The Xiaomi Smart Band 10 is special because it makes a low-cost fitness tracker feel more like a customizable lifestyle accessory. Its combination of a bright 1.72-inch AMOLED display, long claimed battery life, interchangeable fashion-focused straps and broad wellness tracking is unusually strong for the price. It also adds more capable swimming and movement features.
But it is not a perfect upgrade—or a smartwatch replacement. The global model has no built-in GPS, NFC depends on the edition and country, and the claimed 21-day battery life falls considerably with always-on display and heavy sensor use.

Xiaomi’s official launch announcement positions the Band 10 as a combination of health tracking, fitness tools, personalization and Xiaomi ecosystem functions.
The display is its biggest everyday advantage
The Band 10 has a 1.72-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a 212 × 520-pixel resolution, automatic brightness adjustment and a refresh rate of up to 60Hz. Xiaomi rates its high-brightness mode at up to 1,500 nits and claims approximately 2mm bezels with a screen-to-body ratio of about 73%.
Those specifications matter more in daily use than many of the smaller sensor upgrades. The screen is large enough to make notifications, watch faces, menus and workout data easier to read than on a traditional narrow fitness band. The 60Hz mode can also make scrolling and animations feel smoother.

The brightness figure needs context: 1,500 nits is a high-brightness-mode claim, not necessarily the sustained brightness in every environment. Always-on display support is useful, but it also has a major effect on battery life. See Xiaomi’s official specifications and FAQ for the regional details.
It looks more like an accessory than sports equipment
Most inexpensive fitness trackers emphasize a single sporty design. Xiaomi takes a different approach with the Band 10, offering multiple materials and a wide range of straps.
- Standard Edition: aluminum-alloy frame and a conventional TPU strap.
- Ceramic Edition: a ceramic frame with more premium styling.
- Glimmer Edition: a decorative metal-and-crystal-style strap aimed at jewelry-like wear.
Available colors and editions vary by country, but standard colors include Midnight Black, Glacier Silver and Mystic Rose. Depending on the market, buyers may also find leather, silk-knit, metal, magnetic and rubber straps, as well as pendant-compatible accessories.
Xiaomi has referenced seven retail strap styles and more than 220 customizable band displays. Some accessories are sold separately, and the availability of the desktop dock—which can repurpose an older Xiaomi band as a desktop-style display—should be checked locally rather than assumed to be included.

The important distinction is that Ceramic and Glimmer models generally do not transform the core tracking platform. Their main benefits are appearance and materials, not dramatically better health data.
Battery life is excellent, but 21 days is not a guarantee
Xiaomi lists a 233mAh battery and claims up to 21 days in typical-use mode. Its FAQ gives an approximately nine-day estimate with the always-on display enabled and about eight days in heavy-load mode. Charging is magnetic and Xiaomi says a full charge takes approximately one hour under its internal test conditions.
Actual endurance depends on:
- Always-on display use
- Screen brightness and wake frequency
- Continuous heart-rate and blood-oxygen monitoring
- Sleep tracking and workout frequency
- Notifications and vibration
- Bluetooth use, temperature and battery age
Independent testing has found shorter results under demanding settings. Notebookcheck reported approximately six days in one always-on-display test. That does not invalidate Xiaomi’s claim; it shows why the 21-day figure should be treated as a conditional typical-use maximum rather than a guaranteed ownership result.
Health and fitness tracking
The Band 10 provides optical heart-rate tracking, blood-oxygen monitoring, sleep tracking, stress monitoring, step and activity tracking, menstrual-cycle tracking and resting-heart-rate trends. Xiaomi also promotes sleep guidance, improvement plans and a sleep-animal visualization based on recent sleep data.

The band is not a medical device. Heart-rate, SpO2, sleep-stage and stress results are estimates affected by fit, movement, skin contact, temperature and algorithms. They should not be used to diagnose illness or make urgent medical decisions.
What does the 9-axis motion sensor add?
Xiaomi describes the Band 10 as using a 9-axis motion sensor, replacing the previous generation’s six-axis motion-sensing arrangement according to its training material. In practical terms, the upgrade is most relevant to movement recognition and sports tracking—particularly swimming.
“9-axis” generally refers to an accelerometer, gyroscope and electronic compass or magnetometer. It does not mean the band has nine separate health sensors, and it does not automatically make its health readings medical-grade.

Xiaomi links the sensor to AI-assisted swim-stroke detection. Tech Advisor reported a Xiaomi-linked claim of approximately 96% lap-count accuracy. That figure should be understood as a manufacturer-associated claim, not a universal guarantee across pools, strokes or users.
Swimming is one of its more interesting capabilities
The Band 10 has a 5ATM water-resistance rating and supports pool swimming and shallow-water activities. It can track swim workouts, laps and stroke information, with AI-powered stroke detection and real-time heart-rate tracking in water where supported by the edition and region.
5ATM does not mean the band is suitable for every water-related activity. Xiaomi warns against hot showers, saunas, diving, strong or fast-moving water and activities involving direct impacts. Water resistance can also decline as the device ages.
The most important omission: no built-in GPS
The standard global Xiaomi Smart Band 10 does not have built-in GPS. For outdoor running, walking and cycling routes, it relies on the GPS in a connected phone.
This keeps the band lighter, cheaper and potentially more power-efficient. It is perfectly adequate if you always carry your phone. However, it means there is no phone-free route tracking, and your phone battery is used during GPS workouts.
Runners, hikers and cyclists who want to leave their phones behind should consider a GPS-equipped tracker or smartwatch instead. The absence of GPS is more consequential to those users than the Band 10’s brighter display or newer motion sensor.
NFC is a model-and-country question
NFC availability is not universal. Xiaomi’s China launch pricing separated the standard version at 269 RMB, the NFC model at 319 RMB and the Ceramic Edition at 379 RMB. International retail versions may use different configurations.

Before buying, check:
- The exact model or SKU.
- Whether the hardware includes NFC.
- Whether NFC payments or transport functions are supported in your country.
- Whether Mi Fitness supports the required payment service.
- Whether an imported model has acceptable warranty and software-region support.
Do not assume that a marketplace listing titled “Smart Band 10” includes NFC. China, global and local editions can differ.
Smart features, but not a full smartwatch
Everyday functions include notifications, alarms, timers, weather, find-my-phone, media controls, a compass and—depending on phone compatibility—camera control. Bluetooth heart-rate broadcasting can send the band’s heart-rate data to compatible exercise equipment or cycling devices.
Xiaomi also describes ecosystem controls for compatible Xiaomi phones, tablets, PCs, smart appliances and vehicles. These functions can depend on Xiaomi hardware, country, Mi Fitness support and a specified HyperOS version. They are not universal Android features.
The Band 10 has no cellular connection, no built-in GPS and no smartwatch app ecosystem comparable with Apple Watch or Wear OS. Most advanced functions require a paired phone and Mi Fitness.
Is it a worthwhile upgrade from the Smart Band 9?
For Smart Band 9 owners, this is an evolutionary upgrade rather than a transformational one.
| Choose the Band 10 for | Keep the Band 9 if |
|---|---|
| The larger and brighter display | Your current display is sufficient |
| 60Hz scrolling and newer watch faces | You mainly use basic activity tracking |
| Newer style options and accessories | You already like your existing straps and design |
| 9-axis movement sensing and newer swim features | You do not need those sports functions |
| A discounted newer model | The Band 9 is substantially cheaper |
There is no built-in GPS breakthrough and no obvious battery-life revolution. The upgrade makes most sense when the display, design or swimming features matter to you—not simply because it is the newer number.
Who should buy the Xiaomi Smart Band 10?
- First-time tracker buyers: A strong choice if you want a bright screen, long endurance and basic wellness tracking without smartwatch pricing.
- Smart Band 8 owners: The larger display, design changes and newer tracking may justify an upgrade if your current band feels limited.
- Smart Band 9 owners: Upgrade selectively; the improvements are meaningful but incremental.
- iPhone users: Compatible, provided you are comfortable using Mi Fitness rather than Apple’s wearable ecosystem.
- Xiaomi-phone owners: The ecosystem features may be useful, but verify device and HyperOS requirements.
- Style-focused buyers: The Ceramic, Glimmer and pendant options make it more adaptable to everyday clothing than many budget bands.
Consider an alternative if you need phone-free GPS, dependable contactless payments, extensive third-party apps, voice-assistant features or clinically validated health measurements. US buyers should also verify official local availability, seller reputation and warranty coverage before choosing an imported unit.

How it compares with alternatives
Xiaomi Smart Band 9: Often the better bargain when discounted, with much of the same basic tracking experience. Choose the Band 10 for its display, newer movement sensing and styling.
Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro: A better fit for buyers who want a larger, more watch-like design and built-in GPS where the regional model provides it. The standard Band 10 is smaller, lighter and usually cheaper.
Fitbit Charge: Better suited to buyers who prioritize Fitbit’s coaching, health platform and social ecosystem, but usually at a higher cost and potentially with subscription-linked features.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Huawei Band: A competitive alternative for display and fitness features, although app compatibility and regional ecosystem restrictions differ.
Amazfit Band or Bip: Worth considering when GPS, sports features or a watch-style display matter more than the Band 10’s compact design.
Check these details before purchasing
- Confirm whether the listing is the standard, Ceramic, Glimmer or NFC edition.
- Check the regional model, warranty and official seller.
- Do not buy it expecting built-in GPS.
- Verify payment compatibility rather than assuming NFC will work.
- Budget for a replacement strap if the supplied TPU strap is uncomfortable.
- Remember that charging uses a proprietary magnetic cable.
- Expect battery life to fall with always-on display and frequent sensor use.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Xiaomi Smart Band 10 stands out through balance rather than one breakthrough feature. Its bright display, long potential battery life, broad tracking and unusually flexible styling make it one of the more appealing budget bands. Buy it if you carry your phone and value readability and customization; choose a GPS-equipped alternative if phone-free workouts or dependable regional NFC are essential.
