Zepp Flow was designed to handle natural-language watch controls, message replies, Bluetooth calls and selected workout interactions, with availability dependent on the exact watch model, phone platform, language and region.
What Zepp Health announced
Zepp OS 4 was presented as a smartwatch software upgrade centered on a more capable voice interface. According to Zepp Health’s announcement, GPT-4o was integrated into Amazfit’s Zepp Flow experience rather than offered as a separate ChatGPT application.

The terminology matters:
- Zepp OS 4 is the smartwatch operating-system update.
- GPT-4o is the OpenAI model Zepp Health identified as powering the enhanced intelligence.
- Zepp Flow is the user-facing voice assistant and interaction layer.
Zepp Health positioned the upgrade as a way to make Amazfit watches easier to control conversationally, especially when users are exercising or do not want to navigate menus by tapping and swiping.

What GPT-4o does on an Amazfit watch
More natural voice commands
Zepp Health said users could speak to the watch in ordinary language instead of relying on rigid, memorized command phrases. The intended benefit is convenience: a user can ask for a watch action conversationally, then receive a spoken response where supported.

This should not be interpreted as proof that every general-purpose question ChatGPT can answer is available through the watch. The announcement focused on functions connected to the Amazfit device and its companion services.
Message replies
The company said Zepp Flow could help users reply to instant messages, including messages from Android applications such as WhatsApp. At launch, Android and iPhone functionality was not described as equivalent; Zepp Health said iOS support for this capability would come later.
Therefore, an iPhone owner should not assume that an Amazfit watch will offer the same voice-reply workflow as an Android phone. The exact app, operating-system and regional support should be checked for the watch being used.

Zepp Health also described voice-initiated Bluetooth phone calls. This requires the watch to be paired with a compatible phone and does not turn a Bluetooth-only watch into an independent cellular phone.
Workout-related personalization
The announcement included AI-supported personalization of aspects of the watch interface during workouts. That could make relevant information easier to access while exercising, but it is not the same as an independently validated medical or training system. AI-generated wellness guidance should be treated as general information, not diagnosis or emergency advice.

Which Amazfit watches were included?
The original announcement separated watches available at launch from families planned for a later 2024 rollout:

Zepp Health also described some capabilities as compatible with devices running Zepp OS 3.5, including the Cheetah, Falcon and T-Rex Ultra families. That does not establish that every model or hardware variant received every feature.

Owners should check the exact device page in the Zepp app or Amazfit’s support documentation. Being compatible with the Zepp app, or sharing a similar processor or design, does not automatically make an older GTR, GTS or other Amazfit watch eligible.
Because the announcement is dated July 2024, its later-2024 schedule should be treated as historical rollout information, not a live promise for 2026. The available official material does not provide a single current compatibility table confirming the precise GPT-powered feature status of every Amazfit model and regional variant.
Language and phone-platform limitations
At launch, Zepp Health listed spoken replies in English and German. It announced French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese for a later July 2024 rollout.

Those language statements were launch-time availability and rollout plans. They should not be read as a current guarantee that every language remains available on every watch, phone platform or market in 2026.

The same caution applies to messaging. Android WhatsApp replies were specifically cited, while iOS support was described as forthcoming. Feature parity between Android and iPhone should never be assumed from the GPT-4o branding alone.
How to check for the Zepp OS update
Amazfit’s device-specific support instructions use this general path:
- Open the Zepp app.
- Make sure the watch is connected and synchronized.
- Open Device.
- Select the relevant Amazfit watch.
- Open General.
- Select System Update.
- Check for the update and choose Update Now, or use the equivalent prompt shown by your app version.
See the Amazfit update guidance and the device-specific support example for the current interface. Labels can vary by model, app version and region.
Before updating
- Synchronize the watch first.
- Keep the phone and watch close together.
- Use a stable internet connection.
- Maintain Bluetooth connectivity.
- Charge the watch adequately.
- Update the Zepp app if it requests an app update.
Do not factory-reset the watch simply because an update is not immediately offered.

If no update appears
The watch may be unsupported, the rollout may be staged by region, or the device may require an earlier firmware version. An outdated Zepp app, a particular hardware variant, or a separate app-, account- or service-side rollout can also affect availability.
A watch can report that its operating system is current while a GPT-powered service remains unavailable. The individual device page and official Amazfit support channel are more reliable than a generic Zepp OS version number.
Is this the same as having ChatGPT on the watch?
No. The accurate description is that GPT-4o was integrated into Zepp Flow, Amazfit’s voice assistant. The announcement covered natural-language control of watch functions, communications and selected wellness or workout interactions. It did not announce a standalone ChatGPT app with unrestricted access to the chatbot.
Nor does the announcement establish that GPT-4o runs fully offline or entirely on the watch. Calls and messaging depend on a paired phone connection, and connected assistant features may depend on the Zepp app, internet access, permissions and service availability.
What owners should check when Zepp Flow fails
- No voice response: check microphone permissions, the selected language, Bluetooth status, phone connectivity and the Zepp app version.
- WhatsApp replies unavailable: confirm the phone platform and remember that Android support was the capability explicitly cited at launch; iOS support was announced as later.
- Calls fail: verify that Bluetooth calling is supported, enabled and correctly paired with the phone.
- The watch is updated but AI is missing: OS installation and feature-service availability may not be identical.
- An older Amazfit watch is unsupported: do not infer eligibility from the watch’s use of the Zepp app or from similar hardware.
- AI gives health advice: use it only as general guidance and consult a qualified professional for medical decisions.
Should you buy an Amazfit watch for GPT-4o?
For an existing Balance or Active owner, the update could make voice control more useful, particularly during workouts or when replying to messages. The value is greatest if hands-free interaction matters and the watch, phone, language and region all support the desired feature.

For an owner of an older Amazfit model, the AI announcement is not a reason to assume a software upgrade is coming. Check the exact model before making a buying decision.
For new buyers, GPT-4o should be treated as a supplementary feature rather than the sole reason to choose the platform. Amazfit’s current Balance product page continues to market GPT-4o-powered Zepp Flow and advertises up to 14 days of battery life, but the page price is time-sensitive and should be confirmed at checkout. The software feature alone may not justify replacing a working watch.
Choose based on the complete package: battery expectations, fitness tools, phone compatibility, Bluetooth calling, app ecosystem, messaging needs and whether you require independent cellular service. Apple Watch is generally the stronger choice for deep iPhone integration; Wear OS watches suit buyers prioritizing Android apps and Google services; Garmin is often the better fit for structured training and endurance use. None of those comparisons means they provide the same GPT-4o implementation.

Official material reviewed for this announcement does not establish a unified, current 2026 matrix covering every supported model, regional rollout, language, phone platform and Zepp Flow function.
