Reports identify the same release as 1.4.70, 1.4.10 or 1.4.12, depending on the source and likely the region or build label. It is a historical rollout, not a new September 2026 release.
For existing owners, the update remains worth installing through Mi Fitness—provided the update is offered for your band edition and region.

What the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro update changes
| Change | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Calendar added | The band can display synchronized calendar information or events. The available evidence does not establish that users can create full appointments directly from the band. |
| More message icons | More applications can be represented by recognizable notification icons. This does not necessarily mean richer message previews, universal app compatibility or better reply controls. |
| Find your band | Mi Fitness can trigger vibration on the band while it remains connected to the phone. It is not an independent GPS locator. |
| Watch-face editing protection | A setting can prevent accidental watch-face changes caused by unintended touches or presses. |
| Statistics-goal switch | Users gain control over notifications related to achieving statistics goals. This is separate from every health or inactivity reminder. |
| Stat reminder removed | The reported changelog says the previous “Stat reminder” function was removed, so this is not an entirely positive feature addition for every user. |
The release also reportedly optimized the weather-cache strategy, dial or watch-face experience, and sleep, calorie and exercise algorithms, while applying other general experience fixes. “Optimized” should not be read as an independently measured accuracy improvement: no quantified testing is provided in the available reports.

It may make previously synchronized weather information more usable when the band temporarily loses contact with the phone, but the exact cache duration is not documented.

The feature list was reported by Gizmochina and is corroborated by a matching community-reproduced changelog at BandBBS.
Why the firmware number is reported as 1.4.70, 1.4.10 or 1.4.12
Coverage disagrees about the build identifier:
- 1.4.70: the number used by the contemporary English-language Gizmochina report.
- 1.4.10: the number used by Xiaomi-focused secondary coverage.
- 1.4.12: the number shown alongside a matching firmware record and changelog reproduced by BandBBS.
The matching feature list strongly suggests a regional-build difference, inconsistent labeling or a reporting/translation error—not a fabricated update. Do not assume that 1.4.70 is a universal identifier for every Smart Band 7 Pro. Your Mi Fitness app may offer the same release under another number, or may not offer it at all because rollout depended on region, device edition and software state.

The BandBBS entry includes a Xiaomi CDN firmware record, but it is a community-maintained source rather than an official Xiaomi support archive. Use it as corroborating technical evidence, not as a reason to manually install a file.
Does the Mi Fitness app also need updating?
Possibly, and this is an important part of the rollout. The contemporary report says some of the reported optimizations required a simultaneous companion-app upgrade. Xiaomi’s current support guidance explains that band firmware and related resource updates are delivered through the companion app and appear when the band synchronizes with it. See Xiaomi’s firmware-update guidance.

In practice, the phone app may update first and then present the band firmware package. Alternatively, the band may update while a feature remains unavailable until Mi Fitness itself is updated. If Calendar or new notification icons do not appear, check the app version before assuming the firmware installation failed.

- If a package is offered, tap the Download icon.

If the update is missing or a feature does not appear
- Update Mi Fitness through your phone’s official app store.
- Reopen the app and manually synchronize the band.
- Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled and the band is nearby.
- Charge the band above 20%.
- Check that it is still paired to the same Xiaomi account.
- Restart both the phone and band, then revisit Device → Update.
- Allow Mi Fitness the permissions it needs for Bluetooth, notifications and calendar access.
- Check for regional, phone-platform or device-edition limitations.
Android and iPhone permission behavior can differ, particularly for calendar data and notification handling. Notification icons also depend on the application and operating system; installing the update does not guarantee support for every messaging app.

Is the update worth installing?
Yes, for owners who are offered it. Calendar access, clearer notification recognition, accidental watch-face protection and connected-band finding are useful quality-of-life additions. The algorithm, weather-cache and interface changes may also improve day-to-day behavior.
Expectations should remain realistic. The update does not add new hardware, turn Find your band into GPS tracking, guarantee better measurement accuracy or provide universal message-app support. It also removes Stat reminder, which may matter to users who relied on it. Software changes can alter sleep, calorie or exercise readings without making the underlying sensors more accurate.
Should you buy a Smart Band 7 Pro in 2026?
The Smart Band 7 Pro is now an older product. A used or remaining-stock unit can still make sense if it is inexpensive, its battery is healthy and the seller offers returns. Before buying, verify Mi Fitness support for the exact regional edition, the condition of the 235mAh battery, compatible straps and charger availability.
Newer models offer a safer long-term support proposition. Xiaomi’s Smart Band 9 Pro adds newer-generation hardware, built-in GNSS, Calendar, more than 150 sports modes and Xiaomi-quoted battery life of up to 21 days in typical-use conditions. The Smart Band 10 Pro NFC is another newer option with a 1.74-inch AMOLED display, independent GNSS and NFC-related features, subject to regional availability.
Alternatives outside Xiaomi include the Amazfit Active 2 range, whose official US page lists Active 2 Round from $99.99 and Active 2 Square at $149.99, and the Garmin vívosmart 5, listed at $149.99 on Garmin’s US comparison page. Prices, taxes and availability vary by market and date. Choose these alternatives only if you prefer their ecosystems and feature mix over Mi Fitness; they are not direct proof of superior measurement accuracy.
