It is a good fit for buyers who want a traditional-looking round smartwatch with long battery life. It is not a cellular watch, and its 2024-era platform is less suitable for buyers seeking LTE, Wear OS apps or the newest smartwatch software.

What exactly is the GTR 4 New?
The Amazfit GTR 4 New is a revised version of the GTR 4 family, not an entirely new generation. It has a slightly larger display than the original GTR 4 and a refreshed physical design, but buyers should not treat it as a current flagship in 2026.

The India launch coverage identifies two finishes: Galaxy Black with a fluoroelastomer-style strap and Brown Leather. The watch measures approximately 46.5×46.5×11.2mm and weighs about 49g without the strap. Its stainless-steel middle frame, glass-ceramic bottom shell, tempered-glass display and rotating crown give it a more conventional watch-like design.
The display is a 1.45-inch circular AMOLED panel with 466×466-pixel resolution. Reports put its pixel density at roughly 326–331ppi. An anti-fingerprint coating is also listed.
Do not confuse it with the original Amazfit GTR 4 or the GTR 4 Limited Edition. Amazfit India also used the name “GTR 4 New Version” on a teaser page that lists a 1.43-inch display and 14-day battery claim. Those details conflict with the India launch specifications, so the product name and exact specification should be checked on the retail listing or box.

Amazfit rates the GTR 4 New for up to 12 days with typical use. That is a usage estimate, not a guaranteed runtime. Gadgets 360’s launch specifications also list up to eight days for heavy use and up to 28 hours with GPS active.

Expect endurance to fall with the always-on display, frequent workouts, continuous heart-rate or SpO₂ monitoring, Bluetooth calls, music playback, high brightness and repeated notifications. A user who mainly checks notifications and records occasional workouts may get closer to the typical-use claim; someone using GPS daily should plan for substantially less.
Battery capacity is another specification with inconsistent reporting: Gadgets 360 and Gizmochina list 475mAh, while FoneArena lists 445mAh. Buyers should treat the capacity as a reported specification discrepancy rather than a definitive purchasing advantage.
Bluetooth calling is phone-dependent
Bluetooth calling does not give the GTR 4 New its own mobile connection. The watch must remain connected to a compatible smartphone, which supplies the underlying cellular call. The watch uses its built-in microphone and speaker, and call stability depends on Bluetooth range, phone compatibility and permissions.
To set it up, open the Zepp app and go to the watch’s device page, then look for Phone or Bluetooth calling. Amazfit’s stated path is Zepp app → Device Settings/Profile → Phone → Bluetooth calling. The label can vary with the app version. Pair the watch’s calling connection when prompted and allow phone, contacts and microphone permissions.

If calls fail, update Zepp and the watch firmware first. Then remove old watch-related Bluetooth pairings from the phone and repeat setup through Zepp rather than pairing only from the phone’s Bluetooth menu. Keep the phone nearby while testing.
There is no cited evidence that this India model supports independent LTE or eSIM calling.
Health and fitness features
The watch includes 24-hour heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen measurement, stress and breathing-rate tracking, sleep monitoring, menstrual-cycle tracking and one-tap health measurements. Its BioTracker 4.0 PPG sensor works alongside temperature- and motion-related sensors.
These are wellness and fitness tools, not medical diagnostic instruments. Readings can be affected by fit, movement, skin contact and individual conditions, and should not replace professional medical advice.

For exercise, Amazfit lists more than 150 sports modes, automatic recognition for eight sports and strength-training recognition. PeakBeats provides training-related metrics and workout status. Dual-band GPS and support for six satellite-positioning systems are intended to improve tracking in difficult environments, but they do not guarantee perfect accuracy.
GPS performance can vary near tall buildings, under dense tree cover and in other obstructed areas. Satellite settings, firmware and the time taken to obtain a lock also matter. Route import and navigation features are associated with the GTR 4 family, while Strava and adidas Running synchronisation may depend on region, app version and service availability.
Music, Alexa and software
The GTR 4 New has a microphone, speaker and approximately 2.3GB of internal storage for offline music. Launch coverage estimates capacity at roughly 270–470 MP3 tracks, depending on file size. The supported file formats and current transfer process should be checked in the latest Zepp app before buying specifically for music.
Other smart features include built-in Amazon Alexa, an offline voice assistant and Zepp Aura sleep and relaxation features. Launch reports disagree on whether the watch ships with Zepp OS 2.0 or Zepp OS 3.0. Amazfit later announced a Zepp OS 3.5 update for the GTR 4 and GTR 4 Limited Edition, including Zepp Flow, Readiness and expanded training features, but the cited information does not establish that the Indian GTR 4 New receives the same update. Confirm the firmware offered for the specific unit.

Zepp OS can cover core smartwatch functions, but it is not equivalent to Wear OS or watchOS for third-party apps, Google services, payments and deep phone integration.

The “New” model is therefore not automatically a generational leap. Its appeal is the larger screen and updated design, while the original model has the longer advertised typical-use rating.
Is it worth buying in 2026?
At the ₹14,999 price seen on Amazfit India on August 18, 2026, the GTR 4 New is worth considering if you want:

- built-in GPS and extensive sports tracking;
- phone-dependent Bluetooth calling; and
- offline music storage and a physical rotating crown.
It is a weaker choice if you need LTE/eSIM, Google Play or Wear OS apps, advanced notification replies, the deepest iPhone integration or a current-generation platform. Since it launched in 2024, software support and future compatibility deserve more weight than they would for a newly released watch.
Within Amazfit’s catalogue snapshot, the Amazfit Balance was listed at ₹16,999 and is the more relevant alternative for buyers willing to spend slightly more on a newer lifestyle and health-focused model. The Amazfit T-Rex 3 was listed at ₹19,999 for rugged and outdoor use, while the older GTR 3 Pro was listed at ₹9,999 as a cheaper round AMOLED option. These are catalogue snapshots, not permanent prices or stock guarantees.
Important checks before purchase
- Confirm that the listing says GTR 4 New or GTR 4 New Version and verify the display, battery and included strap.
- Check stock at checkout; the catalogue’s availability signals have been inconsistent.
- Confirm the exact firmware and Zepp OS version for the Indian unit.
- Verify that your phone meets the current Zepp requirements. The cited manual reports Android 7.0+ and iOS 12.0+, but app requirements can change.
- Keep the invoice and confirm Amazfit India warranty coverage. Amazfit states a one-year warranty for manufacturing, material and workmanship defects; support is listed at [email protected] and 18004199680.
- 5ATM is suitable for ordinary water exposure within Amazfit’s limits, but it is not a blanket guarantee for diving, saunas, hot showers or high-pressure water. Do not charge the watch while wet.
Verdict
The Amazfit GTR 4 New remains a sensible discounted buy for Indian users who prioritise a classic round AMOLED design, GPS, fitness features and low charging frequency. Its 12-day figure is a best-case usage rating, and Bluetooth calling works only through a nearby paired phone. At ₹14,999, it can be attractive if stock and warranty are confirmed; otherwise, buyers seeking newer software, LTE or a larger app ecosystem should look elsewhere.
