The Anoma A1 Slate is a shaped automatic watch with a polished, rounded-triangular steel case and a dark, layered dial—not a conventional round watch. Launch coverage describes a case around 39 by 38mm, 9.45mm thick, with 50m water resistance. Its reported launch price was £1,800 before taxes, but current availability is unconfirmed.
What the Anoma A1 Slate looks like
The Slate is the black-and-grey dial version of Anoma’s A1. Its pebble-like, rounded triangular case has no conventional lugs, so the strap appears to emerge directly from the case rather than extending from the familiar pair of lugs on a round watch. The polished stainless steel gives the unusual outline a bright edge. Hodinkee, Fratello and Monochrome describe the A1’s distinctive case and dial.
The dark dial is more than a flat black surface. Launch coverage describes vertical brushing, engraved triangular lanes or sectors, and multiple layers of black lacquer. Curved, leaf-shaped hands and restrained markings continue the sculptural design. Depending on the light, the dial can appear black or deep grey.
What it looks like on wrist
The case’s shape changes how its dimensions read. Fratello’s reviewer said the lugless design wore more like a 36mm watch on their 17cm wrist. That is one person’s fit impression, not a sizing guarantee: wrist shape, strap fit and personal preference all affect how a watch wears. If possible, compare the case outline with a watch you already own or try it on before buying.

Launch price and current availability
Hodinkee reported a launch price of £1,800 excluding VAT or other taxes, with an approximate US$2,300 conversion. Time+Tide reported that preorders opened on 10 March 2025. These are historical launch details, not a current price quote. Delivery estimates differed between launch coverage. Hodinkee, Time+Tide and Monochrome.
Fratello later reported that all 300 pieces had sold out. WatchPolice’s listing, updated 21 September 2026, showed the watch as out of stock. Why Anoma said the price increased
Time+Tide attributes this explanation of the A1’s higher price relative to the First Series to Anoma founder Matteo Violet-Vianello: “The First Series was priced lower to incentivise and thank early supporters. The new price reflects refinements to the case, a more complex dial, and ensures the business can sustain operations and invest in exciting future projects.” Time+Tide.
