Studio Underd0g canceled and refunded a reported 10-watch order for its 02SERIES Mim0sa collaboration with Fears after founder Richard Benc linked the buyer to an eBay listing offering the watches above retail before shipment. Benc said the refund would let the brand move some legitimate customers’ orders forward, according to Time+Tide’s October 31, 2025 report.
What happened with the Mim0sa order?
Time+Tide reported that one buyer ordered 10 Studio Underd0g x Fears 02SERIES Mim0sa watches, then listed 10 for sale on eBay before the watches had shipped. The listing was described as being above retail, but the article did not give its exact asking price.
Studio Underd0g founder Richard Benc identified the connection between the order and the listing. The brand canceled and refunded the order. Time+Tide quoted Benc describing the refund as “just shy of US$16,000”; that is a reported amount, not an independently audited transaction figure. Time+Tide’s October 31, 2025 report does not name the buyer or state the listing price.
Why did the brand cancel it?
Benc’s explanation, quoted from Instagram Stories by Time+Tide, was that refunding the order would make it possible to advance “a fair few orders” for legitimate customers. The brand therefore gave up the reported sale rather than fulfill an order it associated with an apparent attempt to resell the watches before delivery.

The report does not quantify how many customer orders moved forward, how much sooner those watches arrived, or any financial effect beyond the stated refund. Time+Tide framed the decision as a choice between immediate revenue and reserving scarce watches for buyers the brand regarded as genuine customers. Its suggestion that the move may support long-term brand sentiment is commentary, not a measured business result.
What does “flipping” mean here?
In this context, flipping means buying a sought-after, limited-availability watch with the intention of reselling it, often at a higher price. The reported Mim0sa listing appeared before shipment and above retail, which led Time+Tide to interpret the transaction as an attempted flip. The story does not establish the seller’s eventual profit or whether any resale took place.

Does Studio Underd0g have a formal anti-flipping policy?
The report says Benc had shared earlier examples of canceling and refunding orders after eBay listings appeared before shipment. That describes previous actions, but the article does not establish a formal, publicly stated anti-flipping policy or set out its terms.
Some commenters suggested a per-person purchase cap for limited editions. That was reader commentary, not a confirmed Studio Underd0g policy, and the report does not establish that a cap would have prevented this incident.
