The anOrdain Model 1 is a configurable watch built around its dial: the Glasgow maker’s vitreous-enamel versions showcase painstaking color and typography, while case size, movement and availability depend on the configuration. It is most compelling for buyers who value that dial craft and are willing to choose carefully among the options—and, for enamel, potentially wait for a build slot. This review draws on the manufacturer’s specifications and named independent coverage; it does not claim hands-on testing by WatchRanker.
What makes the Model 1 distinctive?
anOrdain describes the Model 1 as its debut watch, designed to showcase vitreous enamel. The company says its enamellers work in-house in Glasgow, handling each enamel dial from copper blank through final printing. The craft is central to the watch’s identity rather than a decorative detail added to an otherwise generic design. On the official listing, anOrdain says each enamel dial takes at least 12 hours to complete, alongside years of experience from the enameller. That is the manufacturer’s production statement, not a measure of total watch assembly time. anOrdain Model 1 listing
Dial color and typography give the watch much of its character. Fratello’s review of one Iron Cream example praised the typography and enamel dial, and found that particular 38 mm watch comfortable. That is a reviewer’s impression of one example, not a universal fit verdict or a claim based on our own wear. Fratello’s Model 1 Iron Cream review
Case sizes, proportions and straps
Choose by lug-to-lug as well as diameter: the case’s span across the wrist can matter as much as its nominal size. anOrdain’s FAQ lists these dimensions and strap widths. anOrdain FAQ

| Configuration | Case diameter | Lug-to-lug | Strap width |
|---|---|---|---|
| Model 1 Small | 35 mm | 42.5 mm | 16 mm |
| Model 1 Medium | 38 mm | 46 mm | 18 mm |
| Model 1 Large | 41 mm | 49.5 mm | 20 mm |
| Model 1 Fumé Medium | 38 mm | 46 mm | 18 mm |
The selected 35 mm variant on the official Teal product page is listed at 10.1 mm deep and 42 mm lug-to-lug, which differs from the FAQ’s 42.5 mm Small figure. Because the page and FAQ do not present the same lug-to-lug number for that size, check the live listing for the exact variant you intend to order rather than treating one measurement as universal. Strap width follows the selected case: 16 mm for Small, 18 mm for Medium and Fumé Medium, and 20 mm for Large. Confirm both width and attachment compatibility before buying a replacement; an 18 mm strap is not the listed fit for Small or Large.
Movement choices: hand-wound or automatic
The official Model 1 listing offers three movement configurations. The practical distinction is whether you want to wind the watch yourself and whether decorated movement finishing matters to you. The listed names do not, by themselves, establish that one option is objectively better for every buyer. Check the current product page to confirm which movements are offered with the dial and size you want. Official Model 1 listing

Dial options and the porcelain distinction
Vitreous enamel is the defining craft of the classic Model 1 versions, and the official listing presents multiple dial colors, including Fumé enamel. Other Model 1 variants may offer a different purchase route or a different dial material, so confirm that the desired option is currently offered on its live page rather than assuming every dial, size and movement can be combined.

The Model 1 Porcelain is not a vitreous-enamel dial. Fratello’s coverage of the Porcelain × Kia Tasbihgou collaboration described a white porcelain dial with blue numerals and reported an initial planned run of 70 pieces at the time of publication. Its publication-time prices and shipping statement are historical, not reliable current quotes or stock information. Fratello on Model 1 Porcelain × Kia Tasbihgou
Hen & Mills reported on 2026-08-28 that the Porcelain version had 5 ATM water resistance, a five-year warranty, and an estimated three-month shipping period. It reported £2,200 plus VAT for the G101 and £2,520 plus VAT for the A1 at that time. These are dated publication figures; verify the current configuration, price and delivery estimate with anOrdain. anOrdain’s FAQ says having a local jeweller service the watch does not automatically void the warranty, but damage caused by improper servicing can invalidate coverage. The company recommends a competent watchmaker. Read the current warranty terms before arranging work. anOrdain FAQ
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to buy, and what availability means
As of 2026-10-08, anOrdain’s FAQ describes a build-slot waiting-list system for enamel watches. It says the £350 reservation fee is non-refundable, is plus VAT where applicable, and counts toward the final price. The FAQ does not make that payment equivalent to immediate stock or a fixed delivery date; confirm current terms and timing before reserving. anOrdain FAQ
The same FAQ says Model 1 Fabrik and Model 2 Porcelain watches are available with lead times shown on their product pages, while enamel-watch orders are ongoing and immediate stock is not expected for some time. The live product page is therefore the right place to confirm a particular variant’s current status and estimated lead time.

Quick Recap
Who should consider the anOrdain Model 1?
- It suits you if dial craft, enamel color and typography are priorities, and you are prepared to select a configuration rather than expect one fixed specification.
- Compare carefully if case fit is decisive: consider lug-to-lug and the size-specific strap width, not diameter alone.
- Think through the movement choice by deciding whether hand-winding or an automatic watch better matches how you like to wear a watch; choose the decorated A1 only if that finishing matters to you.
- Consider another route within the range if you want a watch with a product-page lead time rather than an enamel build slot; availability and exact options still need confirmation.
