Its restrained steel case and time-only layout give that dial the attention; the main purchase decisions are whether the 36 mm or 39.5 mm case suits your taste, which movement you want, and whether the current price and production-slot terms work for you.
What makes the Model 2 distinctive?
The Model 2 takes the familiar legibility and practical layout of a field watch and pairs it with anOrdain’s vitreous enamel dial. The dial is enamel applied to copper, rather than a conventional painted surface. That material and the visible character of the finished dial are the central reasons to choose this watch; the case and simple display are deliberately supporting elements.
anOrdain says one in-house enameller focuses on each enamel dial and that the process, from cutting the copper blank through final printing, takes a minimum of 12 hours. That is the maker’s production-process description, not an independently audited time study. The company says its purpose-built Glasgow workshop has operated since 2015. Hands-on reviewers have described texture and visual variation in the enamel, but those are impressions of particular watches, not a promise that every dial will look identical. Beyond the Dial’s 2022 review and Unpolished Watches’ coverage concern earlier versions and historical pricing; Monochrome Watches’ report covers a Racing Green MKII, while Fifth Wrist describes a Fumé example. Those accounts can help convey how enamel can read in person, but they should not be used as current specifications or prices.

Which Model 2 size should you choose?

These are the current dimensions on the manufacturer’s listing. The Medium is a sensible starting point if you prefer a compact watch; the Large has a more noticeable footprint. That is a fit inference from the measurements, not a universal wrist-size rule. If possible, compare the diameter and lug-to-lug length with a watch you already find comfortable.
Both sizes use a brushed 316L steel case and share the listed 11 mm depth. The different lug widths matter when choosing another strap: the 36 mm case takes an 18 mm strap, while the 39.5 mm case takes a 20 mm strap. Confirm attachment type, strap length and lug fit as well as nominal width; the stated width alone does not establish compatibility with every strap.

The movement choice changes both how you keep the watch running and what you see through the caseback. anOrdain says its watches are assembled and regulated in-house and that regulation can be tailored to an owner’s use, including the wrist worn. The current material cited here does not establish a numerical accuracy tolerance, so treat that statement as a description of the maker’s process rather than an accuracy guarantee.
What are the case, crystal and water-resistance specifications?
The current listing specifies a screw-in caseback, a sapphire crystal with three layers of anti-reflective coating, and 5 ATM water resistance. It also states a five-year warranty. These are manufacturer-published specifications and terms, not results of independent testing. The available information does not establish suitability for any particular water activity or detail warranty exclusions; check the current warranty terms before relying on coverage.

How does the Model 2 Porcelain compare?
The Model 2 Porcelain is a same-family alternative if you like the field-watch format but want a different dial material. Its official listing describes a black glazed porcelain dial with individual texturing and hand-painted lume details. The enamel Model 2’s defining dial is vitreous enamel on copper; Porcelain instead offers the distinct appearance of glazed porcelain.

Whether it is worth waiting for depends on how strongly that dial matters to you and whether the live configuration fits your budget and timing. The manufacturer says enamel production is limited by the work involved and describes a waiting-list or production-slot process. Its listing says a future slot can be secured with a non-refundable reservation fee deducted from the final price. Check the live order page for the current stock status, fee, lead time and terms before committing.
