If your Apple Watch is missing calendar events, first check that the event appears on the iPhone and that its calendar is enabled for the watch. Then refresh the iPhone Calendar app and force a watch-calendar resynchronization:
- Open Calendar > Calendars on the iPhone, select the missing calendar, and swipe down to refresh.
- Open Watch > My Watch > Calendar and choose Mirror my iPhone or enable the calendar under Custom.
- Go to Watch > My Watch > General > Reset > Reset Sync Data.
Apple documents Reset Sync Data as the way to force Calendar data to sync to Apple Watch. It is a synchronization reset, not the same as erasing or unpairing the watch. Menu names can vary slightly between iOS and watchOS releases.

Identify what is actually failing
“Calendar not syncing” can describe several different problems. The quickest fix depends on where the event disappears:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →| Symptom | Most likely cause |
|---|---|
| The event is missing on both the iPhone and watch | The account has not synced, the calendar is hidden, or the event was saved to another account. |
| The event appears on the iPhone but not the watch | The calendar is not selected in Watch settings or the watch has stale sync data. |
| The event appears on the watch but there is no alert | The event has no alert, or Calendar notifications are customized, muted, or affected by Focus. |
| Only Google events are missing | Google calendar visibility, account refresh, app differences, or Google’s Apple Watch date-range limitation. |
| Only work or Exchange events are missing | Account settings, fetch behavior, delegated-calendar permissions, or company restrictions. |
| The watch was configured for a family member | Family Setup uses different management controls and does not offer the normal force-sync command. |
1. Confirm the event is on the iPhone
The watch normally receives calendar information through the iPhone’s Calendar configuration. If the iPhone has not received the event, resetting the watch cannot make it appear.

- Open Calendar on the iPhone.
- Tap Calendars.
- Make sure the calendar containing the event has a checkmark.
- Swipe down on the calendar list to refresh it.
- Check that the event is saved to the expected account, such as iCloud, Google, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo, or a subscribed calendar.
Apple’s iPhone Calendar supports multiple account types, so an event is not necessarily an iCloud event. An event saved under On My iPhone, a work account, or another hidden calendar will not appear simply because a different iCloud calendar is enabled.
If the event is still absent, open the provider’s own app or website—such as iCloud.com, Google Calendar, or Outlook—and verify that it exists on the server. If it is missing there too, solve the account or provider problem before troubleshooting the watch.
2. Enable the calendar on Apple Watch
The watch can mirror the iPhone’s calendar selection or display only calendars you choose. A hidden calendar is one of the most common explanations for seeing some events but not others.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Open the Watch app on the iPhone.
- Tap My Watch.
- Tap Calendar.
- Under the calendar-selection section, choose Mirror my iPhone or Custom.
- If you choose Custom, enable the calendar containing the missing event.
Apple’s labels and layout can change with software updates, so look for the options named Calendars, Mirror my iPhone, and Custom. Mirroring is simplest if you want the same calendars everywhere. Custom selection reduces clutter and can keep personal or work calendars off the watch, but it is easy to hide the calendar you need.
3. Force a Calendar resynchronization
If the event is visible on the iPhone and the correct calendar is enabled for the watch, use Apple’s documented force-sync procedure:
- Open the Watch app on the iPhone.
- Tap My Watch.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset.
- Tap Reset Sync Data.
Allow a little time for the watch to repopulate, then reopen Calendar on both devices. You may need to keep the iPhone and watch near each other while they reconnect and synchronize. Apple documents this procedure as a way to force Calendar data to sync; it is not a guaranteed cure for an account, provider, notification, or Family Setup problem.

Check iCloud Calendar settings
For an iCloud calendar, verify that the relevant devices use the same Apple Account and that iCloud Calendar is enabled on the iPhone:

- Tap [your name].

- Tap iCloud Calendar or Calendar and make sure it is enabled.
Older iOS versions may show the setting directly under Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Calendars. Return to Calendar > Calendars and confirm that the individual calendar is selected.
If iCloud calendars remain stale, check Apple’s System Status page for an iCloud outage. Apple also recommends checking the Apple Account identity, date and time settings, and available iOS and watchOS updates during iCloud Calendar troubleshooting. See Apple’s official iCloud Calendar troubleshooting guide.
Check Google, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo, and subscribed calendars
Google Calendar
There are two different Google scenarios: a Google account displayed inside Apple’s iPhone Calendar app, and the standalone Google Calendar experience on Apple Watch. Do not treat them as identical.
If the Google calendar is missing from the iPhone Calendar app, open the iPhone’s account settings and make sure Calendar is enabled for the Google account. Then open the Google Calendar app, open its menu, and confirm that the relevant calendars are visible there too.

It can show events and tasks, deliver notifications, and provide complications or Smart Stack information, but it does not let you create new events or tasks from the watch; creation must be done in Google Calendar on an iPhone, iPad, or browser. Google also documents a limit of up to seven days into the future for that watch experience. An event farther away may therefore be unavailable in Google’s watch experience even though it exists on the iPhone or web.

That seven-day limit applies specifically to Google’s Apple Watch experience. It should not automatically be applied to Apple’s built-in Calendar app, for which Apple documents a different event range.
Exchange and Outlook
For a work or Microsoft account, check that Calendar is enabled for the account on the iPhone. If the event appears in Outlook but not Apple Calendar, the issue is with the account integration or refresh rather than the watch.
Some accounts use Fetch rather than Push. Apple notes that accounts without Push support may use a Fetch schedule. With Automatically, new data may be downloaded when the iPhone is charging and connected to Wi-Fi, so updates may not appear immediately. A company’s security policy, delegated-calendar permissions, or shared-calendar restrictions can also affect what Apple Calendar receives. If only a managed work calendar fails, your organization’s IT administrator may need to check the account policy.

Confirm that Calendar is enabled for the account and that the calendar is checked in the iPhone Calendar list. If the provider’s own service shows a current event but Apple Calendar does not, refresh or reauthenticate the account only after confirming that important events are stored on the provider’s server.
Subscribed calendars
A subscribed calendar can be delayed, temporarily unavailable, read-only, or limited by the subscription server. First confirm that it appears and is selected in the iPhone Calendar app, then enable it under the watch’s calendar settings.
If you need to re-add a subscription, use a legitimate source URL and do not enter account credentials into an unfamiliar calendar-subscription page. Apple provides guidance on calendar subscriptions across Apple devices.

Make sure the event is within the visible date range
A missing event may simply be outside the range supported by the app you are using. Apple’s current Apple Watch user guide documents events from the previous six weeks and up to two years ahead in List and Day views.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Google separately documents events and tasks up to seven days in the future in its Apple Watch Calendar experience. Check the event on the iPhone or on the web if it falls outside that window.
These are app-specific limits, not proof that the watch’s synchronization database is broken.
If events appear but notifications do not
Calendar data and Calendar alerts are separate. If the event is visible on the watch, troubleshoot notifications rather than repeatedly resetting sync data.
- Open Watch > My Watch > Calendar.
- Review the notification options and choose Mirror my iPhone or Custom, depending on how you want alerts handled.
- Open the event on the iPhone and confirm that it has an alert configured.
- Check Focus, Do Not Disturb, Silent Mode, and notification settings on both devices.
- Test with a new event scheduled a few minutes ahead.
Notification behavior can also differ when the iPhone is unlocked or actively being used. A missing alert does not establish that the event failed to sync.

Family Setup and Apple Watch For Your Kids
A watch configured for a family member through Apple Watch For Your Kids—formerly called Family Setup—is managed differently from a watch paired for its wearer. Apple says the normal Reset Sync Data force-sync option is unavailable in this configuration.
Best Value
- Durable, woven cable with fast-charging capabilities for select Apple Watch models. Simply hold the connector near the back of the watch, where magnets cause it to snap into place automatically.
- Supports fast charging on Apple Watch Series 7 and later and Apple Watch Ultra models. Supports regular charge times on all other models.
- Compatible with all Apple Watch
- USB-C Cable Length: 1m or 3.2 feet
On the managing iPhone:
- Open the Watch app.
- Select the managed watch in the family-watch section.
- Open the Mail & Calendar settings.
- Review the selected calendar account and calendar-fetch frequency.
Family Setup does support managed calendar settings, so it is incorrect to assume that calendars cannot work at all. If the managed watch remains stale after checking its account and fetch settings, contact Apple Support. See Apple’s Apple Watch For Your Kids requirements and limitations.
Restart, reconnect, and update
After checking visibility and account settings, perform the basic connection steps:
- Keep the iPhone and watch close together.
- Confirm Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled.
- Check that the watch is not showing a disconnected iPhone indicator.
- Restart both devices.
- Install available iOS and watchOS updates.
- Reopen Calendar after the iPhone has finished refreshing.
Also verify that the iPhone’s date, time, and time zone are set correctly. Incorrect time settings can make events appear to be missing or misplaced.
When to isolate an account
If every iCloud calendar works but one Google, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo, or subscribed calendar does not, isolate that account instead of repeatedly resetting the watch. First verify the event at the provider, then check the account’s Calendar switch and its refresh behavior on the iPhone. Disabling and re-enabling an account can help identify an integration problem, but do it only after confirming that the account’s important data is stored on the provider’s server.
Should you unpair the Apple Watch?
Usually, no—not as a first step. Use this order:
- Confirm the event and calendar on the iPhone.
- Refresh the iPhone Calendar app.
- Check the watch’s calendar selection.
- Use Reset Sync Data.
- Restart both devices and install updates.
- Isolate the affected account or calendar.
- Contact Apple Support.
Only consider unpairing and re-pairing after these non-destructive steps fail. Before doing so, verify that the watch has a current backup and understand that re-pairing is more disruptive than resetting synchronization. Apple’s documented steps do not establish that unpairing is always necessary or guaranteed to fix Calendar.
These procedures were checked against Apple and Google documentation on August 18, 2026. Labels and settings may change in later software releases.
