To see your complete Apple Watch workout history, use the paired iPhone: open Fitness, tap Summary, choose Sessions, and tap a workout. Use the Activity rings calendar for a particular day and Trends for longer-term changes in your activity.
The quickest way to see your complete Apple Watch workout history is on the paired iPhone: open Fitness, tap Summary, open Sessions, and select a workout. For activity on a particular day, use the Activity rings calendar. For longer-term changes in your activity, open Trends.
The Apple Watch itself can show recently completed activities, but Apple’s current guidance treats Fitness on iPhone as the more complete history view. The exact cards and metrics can vary by iPhone, Apple Watch, software version, workout type, sensors, and connected equipment.
How to see a specific workout on iPhone
- Open the Fitness app on the iPhone paired with your Apple Watch.
- Tap Summary.
- Find and tap Sessions.
- Tap the workout you want to review.
The workout detail page can show information such as duration, average heart rate, calories, distance, pace, elevation, power, and other measurements. The available fields depend on the activity and the data captured during it. A run, for example, may expose different information from a strength workout or a pool swim.

Sessions can include workouts recorded with Apple’s Workout app, Apple Fitness+, compatible third-party fitness apps, and—in supported software—workouts logged directly in Fitness on iPhone. A third-party workout will only contribute the data that the app is compatible with and permitted to share.
If “Sessions” is missing
Apple allows the Sessions card to be added to the Fitness Summary screen. If you cannot find it, look for the option to customize or add cards in the Summary view and add Sessions. The precise arrangement can differ between current software versions, so do not assume that an absent card means your workouts have been erased.
Also check that you are using the iPhone paired with the Apple Watch and that the watch has had an opportunity to sync. A workout from a compatible third-party app may not appear if that app has not shared its data with Apple’s health and fitness system.
How to find activity for a particular day
If you are trying to answer “What did I do on Tuesday?” rather than locate one named workout, the calendar view is more useful than Sessions:

- Open Fitness on iPhone.
- Tap Summary.
- Tap your Activity rings.
- Tap the calendar button.
- Choose the date you want to inspect.
This date view is designed around daily activity and ring completion. It is different from Sessions, which is the better route when you want the details of a particular recorded run, ride, walk, strength session, or other workout.
How to see workout history on Apple Watch
For a quick check without your iPhone:
- Open the Activity app on Apple Watch.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
- Tap a completed workout, meditation, or dive to review it.
This is convenient for reviewing an activity on the go, but it should not be treated as the full historical interface. For a more complete list and richer review, use Fitness > Summary > Sessions on the paired iPhone.
How to see Apple Watch activity trends
- Open Fitness on iPhone.
- Tap Summary.
- Scroll to Trends.
- Tap the Trends area, then select an individual trend.
Trends are not a workout-by-workout list. They compare longer-term daily activity measures, helping you see whether your usual activity is maintaining, improving, or declining.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Depending on the data available and the devices and settings involved, Trends may include:
- Active calories
- Exercise minutes
- Stand hours
- Walking distance
- Stand minutes
- Cardio fitness
- Walking pace
- Running pace
What the trend comparison means
Apple describes the trend comparison as the most recent 90 days against the previous 365-day period. An arrow indicates whether the recent average is maintaining or improving compared with the longer comparison period, or declining.

Do not expect Trends to appear immediately after setting up an Apple Watch. Apple says it takes approximately 180 days of activity before Trends begin to appear. The amount and consistency of recorded activity also affect which individual trends are available.
Use the Health app for metric history
The Health app provides a complementary, metric-focused view. Open Health > Summary to review Highlights or Trends. To inspect a particular measurement, use Search, find the relevant category or data type, and open its graph.
Recommended Free Tools
Depending on the metric, Health can provide daily, weekly, monthly, six-month, and yearly views. It can also show the data sources contributing to a measurement and the apps or devices that have permission to access it. This makes Health useful when you want to investigate one measurement over time, but it is not usually the fastest place to find the complete list of individual workout sessions.
How to check cardio fitness
For cardio fitness specifically, go to Health > Search > Heart > Cardio Fitness. From there, you can switch among day, week, month, six-month, and year views and inspect recorded cardio-fitness levels.
Cardio fitness has stricter requirements than general workout history. Apple Watch estimates it during supported outdoor walks, outdoor runs, and hikes. Indoor workouts do not count toward that estimate. Therefore, an indoor treadmill session can appear in workout history without producing a new cardio-fitness estimate.

Why a workout may have incomplete metrics
Seeing a workout in Sessions does not guarantee that every possible measurement will be present. Metrics depend on several factors:
- Workout type: different activities expose different measurements.
- Device and sensors: the Apple Watch model and available sensors affect what can be calculated.
- Connected equipment: compatible gym or workout equipment may provide additional information.
- Workout app: third-party apps control which data they record and share.
- Workout conditions: some estimates require an appropriate outdoor activity or enough recorded data.
For example, Apple Watch workout records can include active calories, heart rate, and distance, while particular activities may also show pace, elevation, power, or related measurements. Missing fields do not necessarily indicate a problem with the entire workout record.
How to delete a workout or its associated data
On iPhone, open Fitness > Summary > Sessions. Swipe left on the completed workout and tap Delete. Apple provides two choices:
- Delete Workout & Data
- Delete Workout Only
Read the choices carefully: deleting the workout record and deleting associated health data are distinct actions. If the issue is a duplicated or incorrect entry, consider which data you want removed before confirming.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Logging a workout after it happened
On supported software, Apple documents the ability to log a previously completed workout directly in Fitness on iPhone. This is a version-specific feature available in iOS 26.1 or later, not a universal capability for every iPhone or Apple Watch setup.

The entry can include details such as the workout duration, start date and time, an active-calorie estimate, and effort. Some details may require an Apple Watch. If you do not see this option, check the iPhone software version and the device requirements for the feature rather than assuming that every iOS release supports it.
Which Apple screen should you use?
| What you want to find | Best place to start |
|---|---|
| Details of one run, ride, walk, or other workout | Fitness > Summary > Sessions |
| Activity and ring completion for a date | Fitness > Summary > Activity rings > Calendar |
| A quick review directly on the watch | Apple Watch Activity app, then scroll to the bottom |
| Multi-month direction in daily activity | Fitness > Summary > Trends |
| A metric across days, months, or years | Health > Search, then choose the data type |
| Cardio-fitness history | Health > Search > Heart > Cardio Fitness |
In short: use Sessions for individual workout records, the Activity rings calendar for a day-by-day check, Trends for long-term direction, and Health when you need a deeper history of a particular metric.
