To find Apple Watch Series 10 wrist-temperature data, open the paired iPhone’s Health app, tap Search > Body Measurements > Wrist Temperature, then tap a chart point for sample details. The watch records overnight wrist-temperature changes relative to your personal baseline; it is not a thermometer and cannot take an on-demand reading or check for a fever.
Before you look for a reading
Apple Watch Series 10 collects wrist-temperature data during sleep, not as an instant measurement whenever you open an app. To establish a baseline:
- In Sleep setup, enable Track Sleep with Apple Watch.
- Wear the watch while sleeping with Sleep Focus on.
- Allow at least four hours of tracked sleep each night and continue for about five nights.
If you have worn the watch for only a night or two, the Health app may say more data is needed. Continue wearing it overnight under these conditions.
How to see wrist temperature on iPhone
- Open the Health app on the paired iPhone.
- Tap Search.
- Choose Body Measurements.
- Tap Wrist Temperature.
- Tap a point on the chart to view its sample details.
The chart shows changes relative to your established wrist-temperature baseline. It is useful for reviewing overnight data over time, rather than interpreting one point as a diagnosis.

What the Apple Watch temperature reading means
The reading is a change in wrist temperature relative to your personal baseline, not a universally comparable body-temperature number. Apple says the watch uses sensors near the skin at the back crystal and under the display, sampling during sleep to produce a nightly aggregate. Apple also says the feature cannot provide wrist-temperature measurements on demand.
Nightly variation is expected. Apple notes that diet, exercise, alcohol, the sleep environment, and physiological factors such as menstrual cycles and illness can affect wrist temperature. An unusual result is a data point, not proof of illness.
- Do not compare your chart directly with another person’s wrist-temperature data.
- Do not treat a change as proof of a particular illness or condition.
- Do not use it instead of an appropriate thermometer when you need to check temperature.
- Look at patterns over time and consider relevant context.
Apple says the temperature-sensing feature is not a medical device and is not intended for medical diagnosis, treatment, or another medical purpose. If you are concerned about a fever or illness, use an appropriate thermometer and seek medical advice when warranted.

Why you cannot take an on-demand temperature reading
Series 10 has temperature sensors, but this feature is designed for overnight wrist-temperature tracking. It does not function like a thermometer that gives an instant reading, and its wrist-temperature result should not be treated as core body temperature or a fever measurement.

1. Allow enough nights for a baseline
Apple says wrist-temperature data is generally available after about five nights, with at least four hours of tracked sleep each night. If the chart says more data is needed, continue overnight wear.
2. Confirm sleep tracking and Sleep Focus
Check Sleep setup and make sure Track Sleep with Apple Watch is enabled. Wear the watch while sleeping with Sleep Focus on; these are part of the conditions for collecting baseline data.

3. Check the fit
Wear the watch snugly but comfortably. Apple notes that a loose fit can affect wrist-temperature data. A new band is not required; consider one only if your current band is uncomfortable or does not fit securely.
4. Check the battery
If the watch battery runs out during the night, it cannot track sleep or collect overnight data. Charge it before sleep so it can remain on your wrist throughout the tracked period.

On supported models including Series 10, Cycle Tracking can use wrist-temperature changes to improve period predictions and provide retrospective ovulation estimates. Availability varies by country or region. Apple says an estimate may take about two menstrual cycles of nightly wear, and some cycles may not provide enough data.
