Yes—but only for the right configuration. Retailers have discounted select 42mm aluminum GPS Apple Watch Series 11 models to about $299.99, versus Apple’s $399 starting price. That is a strong deal for an iPhone owner who wants running, workout, sleep, and health tracking. It is not normally the price of a cellular, titanium, or phone-independent Apple Watch.
At this price, Series 11 is one of the better mainstream fitness smartwatch buys for 2026. Its main compromises are a roughly day-long battery, iPhone dependence, and the need to verify exactly what a retailer’s $299 listing includes.
The $299 Apple Watch Series 11 deal, at a glance
| Configuration | Apple starting price | Discounted price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 42mm aluminum GPS | $399 | About $299.99 | Lowest-cost Series 11 fitness setup |
| 46mm aluminum GPS | $429 | Around $329 when discounted | Users who want a larger display |
| Aluminum GPS + Cellular | From $499 | Usually higher | Phone-free calls, messages, and workouts |
| Titanium | From $699 | Not represented by the $299 headline | Premium materials and durability |
Apple’s U.S. buying page lists Series 11 from $399 for the 42mm aluminum GPS model. A Target listing has shown a qualifying 42mm GPS aluminum model at $299.99, or $100 below its listed $399.99 regular price. Deal coverage has also reported $299 pricing at retailers.
Prices and inventory can change. Treat $299 as a retailer promotion, not Apple’s standard price, and check the final checkout total before buying.

What the $299 model actually includes
The deal normally refers to a 42mm aluminum case with GPS connectivity and a sport band. It includes Series 11’s standard workout and health features, but not the more expensive materials or independent cellular service.
- Aluminum case: lighter and cheaper than titanium.
- GPS: records outdoor location for activities such as running, walking, and cycling.
- No cellular service: GPS does not let the watch make calls or send messages independently of an iPhone.
- Ion-X glass: aluminum models use Ion-X glass rather than the sapphire crystal found on premium configurations.
- Always-on display: useful for checking pace, heart rate, and workout time without raising your wrist.
- Up to 24 hours of battery life: Apple lists up to 38 hours in Low Power Mode.
- Fast charging: Apple says the watch can reach 80% in about 30 minutes, while 15 minutes can provide up to eight hours of use under its stated conditions.
- 50-meter water resistance: suitable for swimming and snorkeling according to Apple’s listing, but “water resistant” is not the same as waterproof.
The 46mm GPS aluminum model is easier to read during workouts but normally costs more. Apple lists it from $429, and discounted examples may land around $329 rather than $299.
Is Series 11 a good fitness watch in 2026?
For general fitness, yes. Series 11 combines a full smartwatch experience with built-in workout tools, GPS, heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and health notifications. It is especially well suited to iPhone users who want one device for daily activity and occasional structured training rather than a dedicated endurance-training platform.
Running and walking
The Workout app can track outdoor routes, pace, distance, heart rate, and related metrics. With watchOS 26, runners can use customizable workout views, custom workouts, pacing tools such as Pacer, and Race Route features. These are useful for repeating a route, targeting a pace, or following a more deliberate session rather than simply recording an activity.

Cycling and gym workouts
GPS supports outdoor cycling and similar activities, while the Workout app can record indoor sessions and strength workouts. Apple’s customizable workout views let users put the metrics they care about—such as elapsed time, heart rate, or pace—where they can see them quickly.
Swimming and water activities
The 50-meter water-resistance rating makes Series 11 suitable for swimming and related shallow-water use. It should not be treated as a watch for every water sport, deep diving, or high-pressure aquatic activity.
Sleep and everyday activity
Series 11 tracks sleep and provides a sleep score, while Activity rings and customizable goals encourage regular movement. It can also issue low-cardio-fitness notifications and provide high- and low-heart-rate alerts. The practical drawback is charging: sleep tracking works best when charging is fitted into a daily routine, and workout or GPS use can reduce the actual time between charges.
Workout Buddy
Workout Buddy can provide spoken, personalized motivation during supported workouts. It is not a standalone feature available to everyone: Apple says it requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone nearby, Bluetooth headphones, supported language and Siri settings, and compatible availability conditions. It should be viewed as a bonus, not a reason to buy the watch without checking those requirements.

Health features: useful signals, not medical diagnoses
Series 11’s health tools go beyond step counting. Depending on region, software, and eligibility, buyers can use:
- High- and low-heart-rate notifications
- Irregular-rhythm notifications
- The ECG app
- Low-cardio-fitness notifications
- Sleep tracking and sleep score
- Sleep-apnea notifications
- Wrist-temperature sensing
- Respiratory-rate tracking
- Cycle Tracking and retrospective ovulation estimates
- Fall Detection and Crash Detection
- Blood Oxygen features where available
- Hypertension notifications where available
What hypertension notifications do—and do not do
Hypertension notifications are not blood-pressure monitoring. Apple’s feature looks for patterns associated with possible hypertension across a 30-day evaluation period. If an alert is issued, Apple directs the user to take blood-pressure readings with a third-party cuff for seven days and discuss the results with a health professional.
Apple explicitly says the feature is not intended to diagnose or treat hypertension. It also has eligibility restrictions and is not intended for people already diagnosed with hypertension or for pregnant users. Availability varies by country and region. See Apple’s support documentation for requirements and limitations.
What “fitness-ready for 2026” really means
Series 11 is a current-generation Apple Watch platform that supports watchOS 26 and Apple’s current iPhone requirements. Apple lists compatibility with an iPhone 11 or later running iOS 26 or later. Cellular Series 11 configurations support 5G-capable connectivity, but that does not make the $299 GPS model cellular or future-proof indefinitely.

“Ready for 2026” means the watch is current and capable for the year—not that Apple has promised a particular number of future software updates.
GPS versus GPS + Cellular
Choose GPS if:
- You normally carry your iPhone on outdoor workouts.
- You want the lowest price.
- You are comfortable downloading music or workouts and exercising without live phone service.
- You do not need calls, messages, or streaming when the iPhone is absent.
Choose GPS + Cellular if:
- You want to run without carrying an iPhone.
- You need calls, messages, or emergency communication away from the phone.
- You are willing to pay more for the hardware and a carrier plan.
- You are considering Apple Watch For Your Kids, which requires the GPS + Cellular model.
Apple lists aluminum GPS + Cellular models from $499 and names supported U.S. carriers including AT&T, Boost Mobile, T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Verizon, and UScellular. Carrier availability and plan requirements vary. An AT&T listing has shown $299.99 under an installment agreement; that should not be confused with a $299 outright purchase.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Series 11 versus Apple Watch SE 3
Apple lists the SE 3 from $249. It includes GPS, an always-on display, sleep tracking, sleep score, temperature sensing, heart-rate notifications, low-cardio-fitness notifications, and the S10 chip. It omits some of Series 11’s more advanced health features, including ECG and hypertension notifications.
At a $50 difference, Series 11 is the stronger choice for buyers who want the broader health package, a current mainstream model, and the best available deal. The SE 3 makes more sense when the goal is basic activity, sleep, heart-rate, and workout tracking and the buyer wants to spend as little as possible. At Series 11’s full $399 price, the SE 3 becomes a more compelling value.

Series 11 versus Apple Watch Ultra 3
Ultra 3 is a fundamentally different product. Apple lists it from $799, with up to 42 hours of normal battery life, up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode, 100-meter water resistance, titanium construction, precision dual-frequency GPS, a siren, and satellite emergency capabilities.
Choose Ultra 3 for long-distance endurance events, adventure activities, diving, advanced outdoor navigation, or substantially longer battery life. It is excessive for casual walking, gym sessions, ordinary runs, and buyers primarily interested in sleep and activity tracking. The Apple comparison page shows the current model pricing and specifications.
Series 11 versus Garmin-style fitness watches
A Garmin or another fitness-first watch may be a better fit for athletes who prioritize multi-day or multi-week battery life, endurance training, recovery and training-load metrics, sport-specific tools, or outdoor navigation. Apple Watch is the better fit when iPhone integration, notifications, apps, music, Apple Pay, and a broad smartwatch experience matter as much as workout tracking.
Neither platform is universally better or universally more accurate. The central trade-off is Apple’s smartwatch ecosystem and daily charging versus fitness-first training depth and longer battery life. Android users should look elsewhere because Apple Watch requires a compatible iPhone. Garmin’s official store is a useful starting point for fitness-first alternatives.

Who should buy it?
Buy the discounted Series 11 if you own a compatible iPhone, want a general-purpose fitness smartwatch, prefer GPS workouts with the phone nearby, value ECG and broader health features, and can live with daily or near-daily charging.
Skip it—or investigate further—if you use Android, require multi-day battery life, expect blood-pressure measurement, need phone-free running but the listing is GPS-only, or are buying a recent Apple Watch whose existing features already meet your needs. Optional services such as Apple Fitness+ are not required for the watch’s workout and health tracking.
AppleCare+ may be worth considering for frequent outdoor use or buyers concerned about accidental damage, but compare its live price, deductibles, and coverage with the $299 purchase price before adding it. Apple’s purchase flow may also show changing service trials and offers.
