Artime’s ART01 Tourbillon is the debut watch of a Swiss independent watchmaking collective founded in 2021. Its defining idea is an unusually open movement: three-dimensional bridges attach directly to the titanium case middle rather than to a conventional mainplate, while a sapphire case structure leaves the mechanism visible. A hand-wound, one-minute tourbillon uses two hairsprings, and a crown-operated selector switches between winding, time-setting and a neutral position.
Who is Artime?
Artime was founded in 2021 in Les Brenets, between Le Locle and the Doubs River, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry’s March 30, 2023 profile. The organization describes it as a six-person collective with horizontal governance: Fabrice Deschanel, Didier Bretin, Manuel Thomas, Claude Emmenegger, Emmanuel Jutier and Stéphane Maturel. The team’s experience spans established Swiss watchmaking. Monochrome’s February 2023 launch report says movement designer Didier Bretin had worked at Breguet, Audemars Piguet and Greubel Forsey; Deschanel managed Renaud & Papi and Greubel Forsey; Emmenegger designed watches including Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Concept; and Maturel held technical roles at Audemars Piguet and TAG Heuer. These are career descriptions reported by Monochrome, not independent biographies.
What makes the ART01’s movement architecture different?
A movement built into the case
Monochrome describes the manually wound caliber as having no mainplate. Instead, three-dimensional bridges support the components and attach directly to the case middle. This arrangement makes the movement architecture part of the case structure and leaves it open to view through the transparent sapphire. Monochrome reported in 2023 that patent applications had been filed for the movement architecture and the “360° vision” case; that report establishes applications at that time, not granted patents. Two hairsprings in the tourbillon
The one-minute tourbillon uses two hairsprings supplied by Précision Engineering, arranged along opposing symmetrical paths. Monochrome describes the intended principle as keeping their cumulative centre of gravity at the centre of the arbour. This is the design rationale, not proof of a measured accuracy advantage; no independent chronometry result is established by the cited coverage.
A selector integrated into the crown
A coaxial push-piece in the crown operates a column wheel to select among three functions: neutral, time-setting and winding. The arrangement consolidates mode selection at the crown rather than requiring separate controls for each operation.

Monochrome’s specification table lists 21 jewels, but the same article’s narrative gives a conflicting total of 25 while describing eight jewels set in red-gold chatons. The total is therefore not consistent within that source and is best treated cautiously.

How do the editions differ?
Artime’s official ART01-Ti page describes a grey-gold caliber, double-spiral tourbillon and ergonomic function selector in a case combining titanium and transparent sapphire. It says the initial titanium series comprises twenty watches. The page’s manufacturer wording describes the edition as a statement of Artime’s principles; that is the brand’s characterization, not an independent evaluation. A later collaboration offered a distinct version. WatchTime reported on September 19, 2024 that Artime and Rostovsky Watches would present a five-piece ART01 Rostovsky Watches Edition at WatchTime New York, held October 18–20, 2024. It described blue accents, a 42 mm sapphire-block and titanium-chassis construction, and the same white-gold movement architecture, double-spring tourbillon and selector. What did the ART01 cost, and is it available now?
Monochrome reported a launch-era price of CHF 195,000 for the twenty-piece titanium ART01 in February 2023. WatchTime reported a $230,000 retail price for the separate five-piece Rostovsky collaboration in September 2024. These are dated reports about different editions and currencies, not current quotations or directly comparable offers.
Current production status, inventory and pricing are not established by those reports or by the edition descriptions. Artime’s site lists ART01-Ti and ART01-5N pages, but the presence of product pages alone does not confirm that either version is currently available to order.
