The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 26237ST is a 2018 re-edition that revisits the look of the original 1993 Offshore chronograph without being an exact replica. Its 42 mm steel case, blue Petite Tapisserie dial, rubber-clad controls and integrated bracelet carry the original’s visual language; its automatic calibre 3126/3840 and folding clasp are among the updates. What the 26237ST is
Audemars Piguet identifies reference 26237ST.OO.1000ST.01.A as a Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph. The 26237ST.OO.1000ST.01 was introduced in 2018 for the Offshore’s 25th anniversary, revisiting the first Offshore from 1993. The anniversary date has a longer design prehistory: AP’s Chronicles account of the Offshore’s birth dates Emmanuel Gueit’s earliest design sketches to April 19, 1989. The watch that emerged in 1993 was a 42 mm chronograph with conspicuous rubber details, a then-bold direction for the Royal Oak family.

Design: faithful in appearance, not an exact replica
The watch’s recognizable Offshore cues are all present: the large steel case, octagonal bezel, exposed screws, visible black gasket, textured blue dial and blue rubber around the crown and chronograph pushers. The integrated steel bracelet gives this version a more continuous metal profile than a strap-equipped Offshore, while its alternating brushed and polished finishes break up the surface.
Those choices make the 26237ST a close visual callback to the 1993 chronograph. It is not a component-for-component recreation: the movement is different, and the 2018 watch uses a folding clasp. AP’s own framing is a re-edition shaped by the techniques of its release year, rather than a claim that every detail duplicates the original.

Movement and chronograph
The automatic calibre 3126/3840 is reported with a 21,600 vph (3 Hz) frequency and approximately 50 hours of power reserve. The Watch Observer describes it as a calibre 3120 base paired with a chronograph module, with 59 jewels, 365 components and a 22-carat gold rotor. That publication contrasts the 2018 movement with the original’s and characterizes the re-edition’s movement as manufacture-made; that is its account, not a performance or serviceability comparison.
Was the 26237ST limited edition?
The 26237ST is reported as a non-limited series by The Watch Observer. The apparent conflict comes from anniversary launch coverage that describes three models as limited to 50 pieces each: that count concerns the tourbillon models, not the steel 26237ST. Gressive’s “boutique only” wording describes distribution, not a 50-piece production limit. On the available model-specific reporting, it is more accurate to call the 26237ST a 25th-anniversary re-edition in a non-limited series than a limited edition.

There is no established current retail price or present market value in the cited material. The often-quoted numbers are launch-era figures, not current offers:

How it differs from the original and later Offshore models
The 26237ST’s purpose is to bring the original 1993 chronograph’s appearance into a 2018 re-edition, not to match every technical detail. It retains the solid caseback and integrated bracelet. AP’s later 26238ST is a different Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph: AP specifies a flyback chronograph, interchangeable strap system and sapphire caseback for that model. Its current US list price is not a price for the 26237ST, so the two should not be compared as if they were the same reference.

Published launch specifications cannot confirm the condition of a particular watch. For a pre-owned 26237ST, verify the full reference and paperwork, inspect the case, bezel screws, bracelet and clasp for condition or replacement, and ask for a recent service record. Treat the 100 m rating as a model specification rather than assurance that an older individual watch remains water-resistant; only an appropriate inspection and pressure test can establish that for the watch in hand.
