Audemars Piguet’s collaboration with Matthew Williams, founder of 1017 ALYX 9SM, comprises four watches: two Royal Oak models and two 42 mm Royal Oak Offshore chronographs. Across the lineup, the defining idea is a pared-back, vertically satin-finished gold dial, with familiar indications removed to put the surface and gold hands at the center. What is in the collection?
The four-model lineup pairs two Royal Oak designs with two limited-edition Royal Oak Offshore chronographs. Audemars Piguet describes the Royal Oak models as entirely made in 18-carat yellow gold. The Offshore models are 42 mm and offered in 18-carat white or yellow gold; the manufacturer gives those metal options collectively, rather than assigning each to a specific variant.
The collaboration’s visual theme is restraint: gold dials receive vertical satin finishing, while customary dial information is pared back or removed. The Royal Oak versions make that approach especially clear by dispensing with indications normally associated with their functions.

What makes the Royal Oak dials unusual?
Royal Oak Selfwinding
The 37 mm Selfwinding model keeps the basic hours, minutes and seconds display but removes the hour markers and date aperture. Its vertically satin-finished gold dial therefore carries fewer visual cues than a conventional Royal Oak dial. Calibre 5909 powers the watch; Audemars Piguet specifies a 4 Hz frequency and a 60-hour power reserve.
Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph
The 41 mm chronograph takes the reduction further by removing the chronograph counters from the dial. The hands remain at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, while the integrated Calibre 4409 provides flyback chronograph functionality. The listed chronograph movement function remains, even though the dial no longer displays the familiar counters.

What distinguishes the Offshore editions?
The two Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph models are 42 mm limited editions in 18-carat white or yellow gold. They retain the collection’s minimalist dial treatment while using Calibre 4404, an integrated chronograph movement with flyback. Their interchangeable strap system is supplied with an additional black rubber strap, giving owners another option alongside the fitted strap.
What is on the caseback?
A sapphire caseback shows a specially developed oscillating weight. Audemars Piguet describes the rotor as 22-carat yellow or white gold, signed 1017 ALYX 9SM, with indications of winding force and rotor weight. The brand does not specify the rotor metal for each individual variant on the collaboration page.
