Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar “John Mayer” Limited Edition pairs an 18-carat white-gold case with a dark-blue dial designed to evoke a crystal-studded night sky. Its selfwinding Calibre 5134 makes it especially notable: AP describes this model as the last limited edition fitted with that calibre.
What is the John Mayer Royal Oak?
It is a limited-edition Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar created by Audemars Piguet in collaboration with American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and watch collector John Mayer. The case is made of 18-carat white gold. The reference AP gives for the model is 26574BC.OO.1220BC.02; it can help identify the watch in AP’s materials, but does not establish present stock or marketplace availability. Audemars Piguet’s model page.
What makes the dial distinctive?
The dial is dark blue, stamped with irregular, crystal-like shapes. AP says the stamping die was created atom by atom using electroforming, producing what the brand calls a “crystal sky.” The effect is intended to give the dial depth and a sense of looking into a night sky rather than simply at a flat surface.
Mayer described the design as “like looking up at a moonless sky,” and said its “sense of depth and vastness” works alongside the perpetual calendar’s technical complexity. Audemars Piguet CEO Ilaria Resta said Mayer became closely involved in the dial’s design details, with the intention of making each wearing reveal something new. Both statements appear on AP’s official product page.

What movement is in John Mayer’s Audemars Piguet?
The watch uses AP’s selfwinding Calibre 5134. The brand says the calibre adapted its perpetual-calendar movement for a 41 mm case in 2015, and gives its thickness as 4.3 mm. AP identifies the John Mayer model as the last limited edition equipped with Calibre 5134; that statement concerns limited editions, not necessarily every Royal Oak or every watch using the calibre.
The movement’s earlier lineage
AP traces the calibre’s lineage to Calibre 2120/2800, introduced in 1978. The brand describes that earlier mechanism as 3.95 mm thick and as the world’s thinnest selfwinding perpetual-calendar movement at the time of its launch. This historical superlative is AP’s claim, not a present-day ranking. The movement history and specifications are on the official John Mayer watch page.

How does it fit into the Royal Oak collection?
The Royal Oak debuted in 1972. On its current collection page, AP says more than 500 iterations have been created, though the page does not date that tally or explain how “iteration” is counted. The John Mayer piece is one particular limited-edition perpetual calendar within that much broader collection. AP’s Royal Oak collection overview.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the John Mayer Royal Oak new, available, or priced?
“New” in older watch coverage reflects the perspective at the time of the announcement, not a 2026 launch. AP’s dedicated product page is undated, while its current releases page features newer novelties and does not present the John Mayer model as a current launch. The model page does not state a current price or availability, so neither should be inferred from the reference number or the product description.
