Baltic lists both at €620 and says it made 200 numbered watches per size—400 in total—for its timekeeper role at The Rift gravel race. Here are the specifications, size differences and edition details to know.
What is the Baltic Hermétique The Rift?
It is a limited-edition take on Baltic’s Hermétique field watch, created for The Rift, a gravel cycling race held on volcanic trails in southern Iceland. Baltic says it served as official timekeeper for the race’s seventh edition and produced watches in colors inspired by the event. The brand describes the setting as a meeting point of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, and says the race brings together nearly 900 cyclists; its product page does not attach a year to that participation figure. Baltic’s product page
The watch uses an organic palette of volcanic black, moss green and glacial blue. Its matte-white dial has a forged-carbon railway sector, with polished steel hands. Baltic specifies Super-LumiNova BGW9 and C3 on the dial and BGW9 on the hands. The brand says the arrangement is intended to aid reading in darkness; that is a design claim, not an independent legibility test.
What changed with the 34 mm version?
The Rift edition is offered in 34 mm and 37 mm case diameters. Baltic says 34 mm is the first time the Hermétique has been offered in that size. The smaller case also has a shorter lug-to-lug measurement and narrower strap width, while both sizes share the same stated thickness and core specifications.
#1 Best Overall
- History in Your Hands - Wear a World War 2 Watch similar to that worn by soldiers during one of the humanity’s most trying times. The Flieger watches used by the Luftwaffe, the Third Reich´s air force, during WWII were an essential part of the equipment of the German bombers. Your watch is a connection to real lives and untold stories.
- Vintage Design combined with Modern Technology - This watch has a Highly Accurate Quartz Movement, three-hander with luminous hands, 42 mm wide round stainless-steel case with mineral crystal. This luxury piece has a water resistance of 10 ATM (means apron 100 meters waterproof for swimming or snorkeling).
- Designed by Experts - The watch has been designed to be as close as possible to the original watches used during the War. Faithful reflection of the original watch, the steel back cover and the side are engraved with the production and navigation codes of the original watch (FI 23883).
- Collector's edition - Expand your collection or historical display by adding similar watches to those operated (worn) by the real protagonists from all around the world during World War II. Each watch tells the story of a country's soldiers and the tragedy of war. Each of them corresponds to a limited series, of which only 500 units have been produced and engraved with the corresponding numbering (001/500, 002/500...).
- Gift Box Included - Receive your watch protected by a nice cloth watch pouch, which comes inside a luxurious box. Perfect to give as a pleasant surprise to a loved one. All package includes a brief description of the watch's history and technical features and the factory warranty.
| Specification | 34 mm | 37 mm |
|---|---|---|
| Case diameter | 34 mm | 37 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 42.5 mm | 46 mm |
| Lug width | 18 mm | 20 mm |
| Thickness | 10.8 mm (8.3 mm without the crystal) | 10.8 mm (8.3 mm without the crystal) |
The figures are Baltic’s published specifications, not independent measurements. The 34 mm model’s 18 mm lug width is useful when checking replacement straps. Baltic’s compatibility note says its straps and bracelets fit the 37 mm model except for the Mesh bracelet; it does not make that same compatibility claim for the 34 mm model. For third-party straps on either size, confirm the attachment details as well as the width.
What are the movement and case specifications?
Baltic specifies an automatic Miyota 9039 movement with a 42-hour power reserve and stop seconds. The case is brushed 316L stainless steel with a polished bezel, double-domed sapphire crystal and internal anti-reflective coating. The stated water resistance is 150 m (15 ATM). These are manufacturer specifications; no independent test results are established here.

Baltic lists the same movement, thickness and water resistance for both sizes. It also says the integrated crown allows the watch to be worn on either wrist.

Baltic calls the watches a numbered edition of 200 pieces per model and says they will not be reproduced. With two sizes listed, that means 200 per size and 400 total, consistent with Baltic’s separate statement that it produced 400 Hermétique watches for the event. The page does not separately enumerate how those 400 were allocated between sizes. Time+Tide’s launch coverage also reports a 400-piece run. Time+Tide’s 9 October 2026 launch report
What else was made for The Rift?
Baltic says it collaborated with cycling brands Specialized and Isadore around the race. The project includes a hand-painted Specialized Diverge Custom Baltic and cycling apparel inspired by the watch. Baltic describes the custom bicycle as available on request, rather than as a standard retail model; it says jerseys and bib shorts are available through Isadore’s website. Check with the brands for current availability.
