What is the 2024 Bamford Popeye Steel GMT?
It is Bamford London’s 2024 Popeye collaboration, made in a limited run of 100 pieces. The official King Features announcement dated September 18, 2024 identifies the limited-edition Steel GMT, while launch coverage supplies the watch’s technical specifications.
The watch pairs a functional GMT display with a character-led dial: Popeye sits at the centre of a blue grained gradient, with his arms acting as the hour and minute hands. An arrow-shaped GMT hand and a seconds hand tipped with a spinach can complete the design. The case is matched to a three-link steel bracelet.

How the GMT function works
The SW330-2 provides a caller- or office-style GMT function. Its GMT hand can be set independently, allowing the wearer to track a second time zone while keeping the main hour and minute hands on local time. This is distinct from a traveller-style GMT, where the local-hour hand is typically the independently adjustable hand. The listed functions also include a date display.
Is the 2024 Popeye GMT still available?
Current stock and pricing are not established by the launch reports. Time+Tide described direct-from-brand availability at launch, but that does not confirm inventory in October 2026. The product link associated with the official announcement returned a 404 when checked; that alone does not establish that the watch is unavailable through the brand, retailers or resale sellers. Verify the exact edition, condition and price with any seller before buying.

How it differs from the 2019 Popeye GMT
The 2024 Steel GMT is not the same watch as Bamford’s 2019 Popeye 90th-anniversary edition. The earlier release was a separate 50-piece limited edition with a navy-and-white design and canvas strap. Its case was 40 mm across and 11.2 mm thick; it used a Sellita SW330-1 movement with a reported 42-hour power reserve. Its reported retail price was £1,500 including VAT.

The two releases share the Popeye-and-GMT concept, but differ in edition size, movement version, reserve, case thickness and how they are worn. The 2019 price and specifications belong to that earlier edition, not the 2024 Steel GMT.
