These are two separate 2023 Riviera releases, not two sizes of the same watch. The Riviera Azur 300m, references M0A10716 and M0A10717, is listed at 42 mm and is rated to 300 m. The new 39 mm models—M0A10714, M0A10715 and M0A10720—are Riviera Baumatics rated to 10 ATM, with a manufacturer-stated five-day power reserve. The choice comes down to whether you want the Azur’s higher water-resistance rating and rotating bezel, or a smaller-diameter Baumatic with several dial and strap combinations.
First, these are different Riviera models—not different sizes of one watch
Baume & Mercier introduced both as part of its Riviera expansion in 2023, the collection’s 50th anniversary year. The brand dates the Riviera’s creation to 1973 and says the fifth generation launched in 2021. The Azur 300m and the 39 mm Baumatic trio are distinct watches with different references, cases and intended emphases.
Baume & Mercier’s regional product listing identifies the Riviera Azur 300m as a 42 mm watch. Its two references are M0A10716 and M0A10717. The three 39 mm watches are M0A10714, M0A10715 and M0A10720. So if you are deciding between a 39 mm and a 42 mm Riviera, you are also comparing different specifications and designs—not simply choosing a smaller or larger Azur.

These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results. The available product information does not establish which watch will fit a particular wrist more comfortably.

What the Azur 300m’s 300-metre rating means
Baume & Mercier describes the Azur as water-resistant to 30 ATM, equivalent in its product copy to 300 metres or 984 feet. The brand calls it “your elegant sports companion of the summer.” Its unidirectional rotating bezel, with the first 15 minutes marked, is the clearest functional distinction from the 39 mm Baumatics.
The rating makes the Azur the higher-water-resistance option on paper. It does not, by itself, establish independent dive certification or prove performance in a comparative dive test. The cited manufacturer material is not a substitute for checking care instructions and the watch’s condition before exposing it to water.

What the 39 mm Baumatics offer instead
The 39 mm trio pairs a smaller stated case diameter with the Baumatic manufacture movement. In its March 2023 announcement, Baume & Mercier stated a five-day (120-hour) power reserve, daily precision of -5 to +10 seconds, and magnetic resistance up to 1,500 Gauss for all three. The release also describes a tool-free strap interchangeability system.
The brand’s stated water resistance for these models is 10 ATM, below the Azur’s 30 ATM rating. Their differences are mainly in materials, dial treatments and supplied straps:

Which one should you choose?
Choose the Azur 300m if water resistance and bezel function are priorities
The Azur is the straightforward choice if you want the higher published water-resistance figure and a unidirectional rotating bezel. Its two references are M0A10716 and M0A10717; the official regional listing gives the case diameter as 42 mm.
Choose a 39 mm Baumatic if you prefer the smaller stated diameter or its specific configuration
The 39 mm Baumatics combine a smaller diameter with the performance figures Baume & Mercier published for the Baumatic movement. Pick among the blue-dial M0A10714, steel-bracelet M0A10715 and titanium-bezel M0A10720 based on the material and strap combination that suits your preferences.

Use wrist fit as a separate decision
A 39 mm case is smaller in diameter than a 42 mm case, but that comparison alone cannot tell you how either watch will sit on your wrist. The published information does not provide validated fit guidance or comparative wear testing. If fit is decisive, compare the exact references in person or ask a retailer for case and lug measurements before choosing.
