The Bell & Ross BR-03 Astro is a 41 mm automatic watch that tells ordinary hours, minutes and seconds with a miniature orbital scene: Mars marks the hours, the Moon the minutes, and a satellite circling a sapphire Earth tracks the seconds. Its imaginative display is the point; buyers should weigh that novelty against the practical questions of readability, price, limited availability and long-term care.
How does the BR-03 Astro tell time?
The dial is a blue aventurine plate intended to evoke space, with a recessed Earth represented in sapphire. The three moving indicators assign familiar timekeeping functions to celestial objects:
- Hours: Mars, shown on a transparent plate.
- Minutes: the laser-engraved Moon.
- Seconds: a satellite that orbits the Earth once every 60 seconds, according to Bell & Ross.
The Earth is the visual center of the scene rather than a separate time indicator. The display remains hours, minutes and seconds, but reads differently from conventional hands and markers. Bell & Ross Creative Director and Co-Founder Bruno Belamich describes the concept as “The magic of this watch lies in its display—not as a technical interpretation of an instrument watch but, for once, in an imaginative dimension.”

Bell & Ross lists the BR-03 Astro under reference BR03A-EMM-CE/SRB. The figures below are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results.

The square BR-03 case and black ceramic give the unusual dial a more restrained frame. The 41 mm width and 11.50 mm thickness are useful sizing references, but do not establish how the watch will fit an individual wrist; trying it on is the surest way to judge that.
What to consider before buying
Display and legibility
The satellite, Moon and Mars make this a more expressive display than a conventional three-hand layout. The same design choice means the indicators may take more attention to interpret than familiar hands. Bell & Ross describes the mechanism and indicators, but no independent legibility or timing test is established here. If quick, at-a-glance reading is essential, inspect the dial in person or ask an authorized seller for a clear view before committing.

Materials and everyday use
The case is microblasted black ceramic, with sapphire crystal and two included strap types: rubber and synthetic canvas. The listed 100 m water resistance is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of performance on a particular watch over time. Water resistance can require maintenance, and the user guide recommends periodic checks.
Movement and reserve
The automatic BR-CAL.327 is listed with an approximately 54-hour power reserve. That figure describes the stated reserve, not a timing-accuracy result. The user guide says to start a stopped watch by turning the crown clockwise; when setting the time, the seconds hand stops.

Edition and availability
Bell & Ross limits the reference to 999 pieces. That establishes a numbered production limit, not present-day stock in any particular country or at any retailer. The manufacturer’s reference page has a date-added field of February 14, 2025; that field should not be treated as a confirmed formal launch date.
Price and where to check availability
Displayed prices differ by page and market, so there is no single verified current transaction price to quote. The manufacturer’s US page search result displayed $4,990; a specialist retailer listing displayed $4,800; and The Watch Pages displayed $5,560. These are page-specific figures with differing regional and update contexts, not a like-for-like current quote or confirmation of stock.

- After setting the time, return the crown to position 0. Never operate the crown underwater.
- Do not unscrew the four slotted case screws.
- Keep the watch away from devices that produce strong magnetic fields, which can affect accuracy.
- After immersion in seawater, rinse the watch and strap with fresh water.
- Have water resistance checked every two years, as Bell & Ross recommends.
- Use a Bell & Ross service center or approved watchmaker for service.
The guide states that the international warranty lasts two years, subject to activation at an approved point of sale and presentation of the warranty card. It excludes, among other things, damage caused by improper use and unauthorized repair or disassembly; confirm the applicable terms and documentation with the seller.
Verdict
The BR-03 Astro is best understood as a conventional hours-minutes-seconds automatic watch presented through an unusually imaginative orbital display. Its ceramic case, sapphire details, 54-hour stated reserve and included rubber and canvas straps provide a practical specification base, while the 999-piece limit and unconventional indicators are central to its appeal. Whether it is the right choice depends on how much the display matters to you—and on confirming fit, current local pricing, stock and warranty before purchase.
