In Michael Stockton’s January 2020 Fratello hands-on review, its curved lugs and supple strap helped it wear better than its blocky case suggested. He also questioned its mineral crystal and review-era $1,095 price. That price is historical: current availability and pricing are unverified.
What is the Benrus Heritage Field Watch B/FIE_3?
The B/FIE_3 is an automatic field-style watch from Benrus’s Heritage Collection, reviewed by Michael Stockton for Fratello on January 22, 2020. The reviewed version has a satin white dial, brown leather strap and stainless-steel case. Stockton also noted black-dial and black IP-cased variants.
The dial takes its cues from Vietnam-era MIL-spec watches. Stockton wrote that it had an “immediate dial resemblance” to that military design: large Arabic hour numerals, an inner 24-hour scale, luminous hands and an arrow-tipped seconds hand. A date window at 3 o’clock is a more modern addition, and it cuts into the numeral 3 rather than leaving the hour marker intact.

Stockton described the case as blocky when viewed in its pouch, but more wearable on the wrist. He credited the strongly downward-curving lugs and said the watch worked on his smaller wrist. That is his fit impression, not a guarantee for other wrists; the roughly 50mm lug-to-lug measurement is especially useful when comparing it with a watch you already wear.

The 2020 review identifies the crystal as K-1 hardened mineral glass, not sapphire. Stockton considered that a drawback at the watch’s review-era price, reasoning that sapphire would be more scratch-resistant. That is his value judgment, not evidence of a defect or a current comparison with other watches.
What did the reviewer like—and criticize?
Stockton’s positive observations focused on the watch’s military-inspired dial and its wearability. Although the case looked bulky at first, the curved lugs changed its impression on his wrist. He also praised the leather strap as thick but supple and found the quick-release spring bars convenient.

His reservations were the interrupted 3 numeral, the mineral crystal and the price. He questioned whether the Miyota movement and mineral crystal were appropriate for the $1,095 price listed in 2020. That figure describes the review period only; it should not be read as a current offer or a present-day value assessment.
Is the B/FIE_3 still available, and what did it cost?
The review listed the B/FIE_3 at $1,095 and a two-year warranty in 2020. Neither figure establishes current pricing or current warranty terms. The BENRUS Shop Watches collection page reviewed lists lines such as DTU and #3061, but does not list this Heritage Field Watch. Its absence from that page does not by itself prove the model is discontinued. Check the brand or a retailer directly for live stock, price and terms.

The newer DTU and #3061 watches shown on BENRUS’s current collection page are different models; the available information does not establish them as direct replacements for the B/FIE_3.
