A 2015 report described 68 paintings buyers could choose from, along with options for the hands, small seconds and movement decoration. Its byline was “Watches meet art.”
Who made the Benzinger by Zanella watch?
The collaboration brought together Luxembourg retailer Christian Bissener, watchmaker Jochen Benzinger and painter Léon Zanella. The project combined Benzinger’s bespoke watchmaking with a miniature hand-painted dial based on one of Zanella’s paintings.
Frank Geelen’s 25 June 2015 article for Monochrome Watches presented the project under the byline “Watches meet art.”

- Dial painting: buyers could choose from 68 Zanella paintings for the miniature.
- Hands: the choice was between Breguet-style and feuille (leaf) hands.
- Small seconds: buyers could choose whether to include a small-seconds hand.
- Movement finish: reported options included engraving, skeletonization, guilloché and other treatments.
Hour indexes and the Benzinger name were printed on the sapphire crystal, according to the same report.
What did it cost, and where was it sold?
Geelen reported a retail price of €12,900 in 2015 and said the watch was available exclusively through Christian Bissener’s Luxembourg boutique. Those are historical terms from that article, not a current quote or confirmation that the watch remains in production, available, or sold through an authorized retailer.

What was the charitable contribution?
The article reported that €500 from the proceeds of each timepiece would go to a charity supporting families with children affected by a form of cancer. It did not name the organization, and the report does not establish whether the contribution arrangement continued after 2015.
