If you’re looking for the best automatic dive watches under $1,500 as alternatives to the Orient Star Diver, first check which currency and market you mean. The strongest verified prices here are Certina’s UK list prices in pounds; they do not establish that either watch costs under US$1,500 in the United States. The comparison’s Orient Star baseline is the M42 Diver 1964 1st Edition F6 Date 200m, reference RE-AU0503N, announced in February 2026. Its release does not state a price.
What counts as an alternative to the Orient Star Diver?
The RE-AU0503N is a 41mm stainless-steel automatic diver with 200m water resistance compliant with ISO 6425, a 50-hour power reserve and a power-reserve indicator. Orient Star specifies its in-house F6N47 movement, a screw-down crown and caseback, dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and 14.5mm case thickness. The brand gives accuracy as +25 to −15 seconds per day. It is a limited edition marking Orient Star’s 75th anniversary. Orient Star’s February 4, 2026 release does not provide a price, so its eligibility under a $1,500 ceiling cannot be established without checking the price in your market.

The alternatives below are selected for documented automatic movements and diving-related specifications, not for a claim that they are all available below US$1,500. Of these candidates, the clearest price-and-specification match is Certina’s 40.5mm DS Action Diver, at a UK list price of £790. The 43mm titanium Certina is listed at £1,100 in the UK. Neither pound price is a verified US price.

Which alternative best fits your priorities?
Choose the 40.5mm Certina for a smaller documented case and longer reserve
At 40.5mm, the C048.407.18.051.01 is the closest of the priced alternatives to the Orient Star’s 41mm diameter. Certina’s UK listing gives it 300m water resistance, ISO 6425:2018 certification and a Powermatic 80 movement with up to 80 hours of reserve, compared with the Orient Star’s 200m ISO 6425-compliant rating and 50-hour reserve. The official UK price is £790. Thickness, lug-to-lug measurement and bezel material are not stated in the cited product information, so diameter alone is not enough to predict how it will sit on your wrist.
Choose the 43mm titanium Certina if you want the larger, lighter-material option
The C032.607.44.051.00 combines a 43mm titanium case and bracelet with a 13.1mm height and 51.44mm lug-to-lug measurement. Its UK official price is £1,100. Certina specifies 300m water resistance under ISO 6425:2018 and an automatic Powermatic 80.611 movement with up to 80 hours of reserve. Its larger diameter and long lug-to-lug measurement are useful fit details to compare against your wrist and a watch you already wear; the measurements do not by themselves establish comfort or fit.

Consider the Seiko SRPE37 if its ceramic bezel is the draw—but verify price first
Seiko’s US product result identifies the SRPE37 as an automatic Prospex diver with a 200m rating, screw-down crown and caseback, sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating, and a ceramic one-way rotating elapsed-time bezel. Seiko says it follows ISO standards for scuba diving, but the result does not specify an ISO edition. It also does not show a price, case measurements or power reserve. Confirm the current US price and stock, plus any fit or movement details you need, before considering it a match for the budget.
How to interpret diver ratings and ISO claims
A depth rating and an explicit statement of ISO compliance are different kinds of evidence. Certina names ISO 6425:2018 for both DS Action Diver references in this comparison. Orient Star says the RE-AU0503N’s 200m scuba-diving water resistance complies with ISO 6425. Seiko’s SRPE37 result uses the broader phrase “follows ISO standards for scuba diving” and does not identify an edition. Keep those claims distinct rather than treating every 200m or 300m rating as proof of the same certification.

- NH35A Japanese Automatic movement, 24 jewel; Assembled in Malaysia; Watch weight 155 grams
- Includes gift box, instructions and 3 year limited manufacturer warranty; Invicta Customer Service can be reached at 1-800-327-7682 for questions (re: Additional links, band replacement, band adjustment, warranty questions, etc.)
Certina describes ISO 6425:2018 as covering requirements such as time preselection and legibility in darkness, as well as function in water and resistance to external forces, salt water, thermal shock, magnetic effects, pressure and shock. A water-resistance number alone does not establish that a watch meets the standard. For a real dive, use appropriate training and equipment; a watch’s stated rating is not a substitute for safe diving practice.
Price, seller and ownership checks before buying
- Match the price to your market. The documented Certina prices are UK list prices in pounds. No verified US street price or currency conversion is established here. Check the official regional listing and the exact reference before applying a US$1,500 limit.
- Confirm the exact reference. Similar names can cover different sizes, materials and variants. Match the model number in the listing to the reference shown above.
- Check who is selling it. Confirm seller authorization or status with the manufacturer, and read the local warranty terms, return policy and service arrangements before purchase. No model-specific warranty or service terms are established by the product information cited here.
- Check fit with more than diameter. Where available, compare thickness and lug-to-lug measurement, and consider the bracelet or strap. The cited 43mm Certina figures provide all three measurements; the source information for the other candidates is incomplete on fit dimensions.
- Recheck availability and price at purchase. Manufacturer pricing and stock can change, and an official list price does not guarantee a particular seller’s transaction price.
Other models reported in a dated price guide
A September 29, 2026 guide by The Subdial Editors reports a US MSRP of $525 for the Seiko Prospex SRPE93 and $625 for the Citizen Promaster NY0159-57E; it reports CHF 895 as a Certina DS Action Diver list price. The guide also reports a $198 WatchCharts market price for the Citizen NY0040-09E in September 2026. These figures use different price bases, and the market price is a dated secondary-market snapshot, not a guaranteed current offer. The cited guide does not independently establish the current manufacturer specifications, availability or US price for every exact reference, so verify those details before treating any as a recommendation. The Subdial Editors’ guide also reports $875 US list for the Tissot Seastar 1000 40mm and $1,075 for the Citizen Fujitsubo NB6021-68L; their manufacturer pages were not independently checked for this comparison.
