1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor most people, the Google Fitbit Air is the simplest Fitbit tracker to recommend; choose the Charge 6 if you need built-in GPS, or the Pixel Watch 4 if you want an Android smartwatch. The Air has no screen or onboard GPS, while Inspire 3 adds a display and the Charge 6 adds GPS and ECG. Pixel Watch 4 does not work with iPhone.
Google’s Fitbit range splits into band-style trackers and Pixel smartwatches. The best choice depends on whether you need a screen, built-in GPS, ECG readings, phone compatibility or smartwatch apps.

1. Google Fitbit Air: best Fitbit overall for most people
The Google Fitbit Air is a screenless tracker for people who want health data without another miniature smartwatch on their wrist. It records heart rate, steps, Active Zone Minutes, distance and calories, and its rated battery life is up to seven days. Google’s US Store lists it at $99.99. See the Google Store product page for product and price details.
Its lack of a display is useful if notifications and constant checking are distractions. You review the data in the Google Health app instead. It works with Android and compatible iPhones, and basic tracking does not require a subscription.

- COMPLETE ALL-IN-ONE-BUNDLE: Includes Fitbit Charge 6 Black/Obsidian, rapid USB charger, and a premium microfiber cleaning cloth, – everything you need to start tracking in style.
There are two important catches. First, Air has no built-in GPS. For a route, it depends on your phone, so it is not a phone-free running tracker. TechRadar’s Fitbit Air review also found that phone-imported GPS tracks can be inaccurate. Second, automatic workout detection is not immediate: Tom’s Guide testing found it could take about 15 minutes to begin. Start an exercise manually when accurate recording from the first minute matters.
Buy it if: you want a discreet, low-maintenance tracker and normally carry your phone.
Skip it if: you need a screen, phone-free GPS or ECG.
2. Fitbit Charge 6: best band for exercise and built-in GPS
The Charge 6 remains Fitbit’s current flagship wristband despite launching in 2023, according to Wareable’s Fitbit comparison. It adds the features that make the Air unsuitable for serious outdoor exercise: a screen, onboard GPS and more deliberate workout controls. It also offers heart-rate tracking, ECG and swim tracking, with a rated battery life of up to seven days.
Choose Charge 6 over Air if you want to leave your phone behind during a run or walk and still record a route. It is also the better band if you want to start workouts directly from the device or occasionally need an ECG-capable Fitbit.
It is not a replacement for the Pixel Watch 4 if you want a broad app catalogue, richer notifications or a conventional smartwatch interface. Its appeal is precisely that it stays smaller and more focused.
Buy it if: GPS, exercise controls or ECG matter more than smartwatch apps.

Skip it if: you want a full smartwatch or the smallest possible screenless tracker.

3. Fitbit Inspire 3: best inexpensive screen-based tracker
The Inspire 3 is the practical middle ground between Air and Charge 6. It has a slim body and a display, along with heart-rate, sleep and swim tracking. Its rated battery life is up to 10 days, longer than the Air or Charge 6 under their respective ratings, according to Wareable’s comparison.
Google’s US Store listed it at $99.95, with a temporary $79.95 sale price when checked. Sale pricing can change; consult the Google Store Inspire 3 page. At that discounted price, it is particularly attractive for someone who wants to see steps, time and basic workout information without paying for a smartwatch.
Like Air, Inspire 3 does not provide onboard GPS. It is therefore better for everyday activity and gym sessions than for runners who want independent route tracking. If you regularly exercise outdoors and carry a phone anyway, this may be enough; otherwise, spend more on Charge 6.
Buy it if: you want a visible, slim tracker and long battery life at a low price.

4. Google Pixel Watch 4: best Fitbit-style smartwatch
The Pixel Watch 4 is Google’s current smartwatch, with Fitbit health and fitness integration rather than the Fitbit name on the case. It comes in 41mm and 45mm sizes, and US pricing starts at $349.99. It is the appropriate choice when you want notifications, apps and a watch experience alongside Fitbit-derived health tracking. See the Google Store Pixel Watch 4 page for specifications and pricing.

It is also the clearest 2026 answer to the question “Which Fitbit smartwatch should I buy?” Versa 4 and Sense 2 are still listed in Google’s comparison tool, but they are older Fitbit-branded watches. The Pixel Watch line is where Google’s current smartwatch strategy is headed.
The compatibility limitation is decisive: Pixel Watch 4 does not work with iPhone. It requires an Android phone running Android 11 or newer, according to Google’s Pixel Watch compatibility requirements. The Google Health app itself supports compatible iPhones, but that does not make a Pixel Watch compatible with them.

5. Fitbit Versa 4: buy only when heavily discounted
The Versa 4 remains in Google’s comparison tool, but it should be treated as an older Fitbit smartwatch rather than the default alternative to Pixel Watch 4. It can make sense when a retailer prices it substantially below the Pixel Watch and you specifically prefer its Fitbit-branded design and established band-style interface.

6. Fitbit Sense 2: best older Fitbit for stress and sleep features
Sense 2 remains relevant for shoppers who find one at a good price and want its health-focused feature set, including ECG support. However, it is another older Fitbit-branded smartwatch, while Pixel Watch 4 is Google’s current smartwatch recommendation. Google lists Sense 2 among devices supporting its ECG app; see Google ECG Help.
Sense 2 is therefore a discount-dependent choice, not the default best Fitbit watch. Check phone compatibility and the exact features you need, especially if you are comparing it with a newer Pixel Watch or the cheaper Charge 6.
What changed: the Fitbit app is now Google Health
As of May 19, 2026, the Fitbit app became the Google Health app. The old Fitbit app cannot be restored. Existing Fitbit-account users had to move to a Google Account to continue using the service, and Google’s data-download and deletion deadline of July 15, 2026 has passed. These changes are described in Google Health Help and the Google Health terms.
The current app has four bottom tabs:
- Today: your overview and daily progress.
- Fitness: workouts and activity history.
- Sleep: sleep records and related trends.
- Health: health metrics, including supported ECG results.
Google also renamed Fitbit Premium to Google Health Premium, and its AI coaching feature is now called Google Health Coach. Premium is optional for basic tracking. TechRadar lists the US price at $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year; Google AI Pro members receive it at no additional cost. See the TechRadar review for subscription details.
Useful Google Health paths
| Task | Path in the app |
|---|---|
| View health metrics | Google Health → Health |
| View sleep data | Google Health → Sleep |
| Open a workout | Google Health → Fitness → select an activity |
| Manage third-party connections | Tap Connections in the upper-left → Partner apps or Apps and services |
| Export an activity | Fitness → select the activity → More → Export |
Google’s Google Health Help documents these app paths. Third-party Fitbit apps and clock faces are unavailable in the European Economic Area; Google removed the ability to install them through Google Health in June 2024. See Google Health Help on app availability.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which Fitbit devices support ECG?
Google’s ECG app is available on Fitbit Charge 5, Charge 6, Sense, Sense 2 and the Google Pixel Watch series. Availability depends on location and regulatory clearance, and a reading takes 30 seconds, according to Google ECG Help.
- On Charge 5, Charge 6 and Sense, swipe left on the device to find the ECG app.
- On Sense 2, press the button to access it.
- On Pixel Watch, press the crown.
- View the result in Google Health under the Health tab.
An ECG feature is not a reason to buy an older watch by itself. If ECG is important, compare the Charge 6 with Pixel Watch 4 based on whether you want a band or a full smartwatch.
