It is a fitness band with a smartwatch-style interface, not a full smartwatch: it has no built-in GPS, app store, ECG, microphone, or speaker. At its U.S. launch price of $59.99, it is a strong option for basic tracking and notifications, especially for Android users.
The compromises matter. The Fit3 has no Wi-Fi, LTE, or third-party app support, and some features are limited to Samsung Galaxy phones. It is not compatible with iPhones. For phone-free running or a full smartwatch experience, choose another device.
Samsung Galaxy Fit3: specifications
| Feature | Galaxy Fit3 |
|---|---|
| Display | 1.6-inch AMOLED, 256 × 402 pixels |
| Operating system | FreeRTOS |
| Connectivity | Bluetooth 5.3 |
| Battery | 208 mAh |
| Storage and memory | 256 MB storage; 16 MB memory |
| Sensors | Accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, optical heart-rate, and ambient-light sensors |
| Water resistance | 5ATM and IP68 |
| Compatibility | Android 10 or later; not compatible with iPhone |
| Dimensions | 42.9 × 28.8 × 9.9 mm |
| Body weight | 18.5 g without the band |
Samsung’s regional product pages give conflicting weight figures. The 18.5-gram figure is for the body without the band; do not treat the separately listed 36.8-gram figure as the bare tracker’s weight.
Design and display
The Fit3 is a slim fitness band with a wide rectangular screen rather than a conventional round watch case. Its 1.6-inch AMOLED panel is bright and colorful, with enough room to read notifications, workout statistics, and sleep summaries without constantly opening the phone.
#1 Best Overall
- Vibrant 1.6” AMOLED Display – Large, high-res screen with smooth touch for easy navigation
- 5ATM & IP68 Water Resistance – Swim-ready and dust-resistant for active lifestyles
- Up to 14 Days Battery Life – Powerful 208mAh battery for long-lasting performance
- 101+ Workout Modes with Auto Detection – Automatically tracks common workouts for seamless fitness tracking. Advanced Health Tracking – Includes sleep coaching, SpO2, heart rate, and snore detection
- International Model No Warranty in the US. ONLY compatible with Android devices. Samsung Pay - Not Supported. NOT compatible with iPhone or iOS devices.
The screen’s proportions give tiles and menus room for clear labels, and the lightweight body is unobtrusive during sleep. The band is rated 5ATM and IP68. Samsung specifies testing to 50 meters for 10 minutes for 5ATM, and dust and fresh-water protection to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes for IP68. Those ratings do not make it suitable for diving or high-pressure water activities.
Battery life: excellent, but 13 days is a best-case number
Samsung advertises up to 13 days of battery life with Always On Display disabled and a light-use pattern: 52 notifications, four minutes of text checks, nine minutes of time checks, and 30 minutes of workouts per day. With Always On Display enabled, Samsung quotes up to 3.5 days.
Actual endurance varies with screen brightness, notifications, exercise frequency, Bluetooth conditions, settings, and battery age. TechRadar’s independent testing found approximately 10 days in normal use; other testing reported substantially less with Always On Display and frequent interaction enabled.
The practical verdict is still positive: the Fit3 can run for several days longer than many full-featured smartwatches, particularly with conservative display settings. Do not treat “up to 13 days” as a guaranteed everyday result.
Setup and compatibility
The Fit3 requires an Android 10 or later phone and does not work with an iPhone. Samsung recommends at least 1.5 GB of phone memory for the supported Galaxy-phone configuration and requires a Samsung account.
Pairing happens in Galaxy Wearable, not Samsung Health. Samsung Health is where you view and analyze much of the resulting activity and sleep data.
- Turn on the Fit3 by holding the Home/Power button.
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the phone.
- Tap Menu, then tap the plus sign to add a device.
- Select Galaxy Fit3.
- Check that the number shown on the band matches the number on the phone.
- Tap Confirm, review the terms, and tap Continue.
Non-Samsung Android phones can pair with the Fit3, but Samsung-phone-only features remain unavailable. A Motorola, OnePlus, or Pixel phone will not provide exactly the same experience as a Galaxy phone.

Interface and everyday use
The Fit3’s navigation is simple enough to learn in minutes:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

|---|---|

| Swipe left | Tiles |
| Swipe down | Quick Panel |
| Swipe up | App List |
| Press Home | Return to the home screen |

The Quick Panel includes Sleep mode, Power, Do Not Disturb, Always On Display, Settings, Vibrate, Flashlight, Find My Phone, Theater mode, Airplane mode, Water lock, and screen brightness. These conveniences give the Fit3 a smartwatch-like feel even though it does not run Wear OS.
Workout tracking and GPS
More than 100 workout modes are available, covering common and specialized activities. To start a workout on the band, use:
Swipe up → Health → Exercise → choose a workout type
To finish, swipe right and tap Finish. Workouts can also be started from the phone through Samsung Health → Exercise tracker → choose exercise type → Start.

The biggest exercise limitation is GPS. The Fit3 has no GPS chip of its own. It uses location data from a paired Galaxy smartphone over Bluetooth, and Samsung says the GPS function requires an internet connection. Leave the phone behind and the Fit3 cannot record an independent route for a run, walk, or bike ride.

SPO2, VO2 max and running coach features not available at the time of launch, will become available during Q3. Features will require a software update.
- Galaxy Watch3 combines style—two sizes, three colors, 50,000-plus watch faces and premium leather bands—with military-grade durability and water resistance.
- Spend your time moving while Galaxy Watch3 tracks seven popular activities automatically. Get more out of each movement thanks to a built-in run coaching.
That makes the Fit3 suitable for gym sessions, daily walks, and phone-connected exercise, but a poor choice for runners who want route data without carrying a phone.
Notifications and replies
Swipe right from the home screen to see notifications. For supported text notifications, the band can offer Reply, Show on phone, Block notifications, and delete controls.
Recommended Free Tools
Replies are preset responses. You cannot type a custom message on the Fit3, but you can edit the response list on the phone by scrolling to the bottom and tapping Manage on phone. Suggested Replies have an additional restriction: Samsung says they require a Samsung phone running One UI 6.1.1 or later.
This is useful for acknowledging a message, but it is not a replacement for a keyboard, voice input, or a full messaging app. The Fit3 also lacks a microphone and speaker, so it cannot handle calls or voice assistants from the wrist.
Health and sleep tracking
The Fit3 tracks steps, activity time, calories, heart rate, stress, blood oxygen, sleep stages, and menstrual-cycle information. It also supports sleep summaries and Samsung’s Sleep Coaching feature.
Sleep Coaching does not appear immediately. Samsung requires at least seven days of sleep data, including two days off, before it can generate its coaching analysis. Snore detection uses the microphone on a nearby paired Galaxy phone, not one built into the band.
TechRadar’s independent testing found heart-rate readings broadly close to a Garmin and gym-machine readings, but reported discrepancies in sleep duration and sleep-stage estimates. Treat results as wellness information and trend data, not medical measurements.

- Activity Tracker: The fitness tracker supports four exercise modes, including running, walking, cycling and skipping rope. Enabling you to accurately track daily steps, calories burned and distance traveled. Perfect for achieving your fitness goals and optimal fitness results.
- Heart Rate/Sleep Monitor: Equipped with advanced sensors, the fitness tracker continuously monitors your heart rate and sleep quality, providing more comprehensive data to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Notifications: Stay connected on the go with smart notifications for calls, SMS, and app alerts. You won’t miss any important messages or reminders while focusing on your activities or work.
- Convenient Daily Features: Comes with a range of practical features, including weather forecasts, stopwatch, sedentary reminders, alarm clock, wrist-raise display, Do Not Disturb mode, remote camera control, and adjustable screen brightness and display time, all designed to enhance your daily convenience.
- Long Battery Life: Enjoy the long-lasting battery that requires just 2 hours of charging for up to 5 days of use, with a standby time of up to 20 days. Just connect it to any USB port without the need for a special charger, making charging convenient and hassle-free.
The Fit3 cannot perform an ECG or measure body composition. It should not be purchased as a low-cost substitute for a Galaxy Watch if those sensors matter to you.
Safety features
Fall Detection can ask whether help is needed, while Emergency SOS is triggered by pressing the Home button five times. Both features depend on the paired phone and configured emergency contacts. Samsung says registered medical information can be displayed on the phone’s lock screen for responders.
These features may be reassuring, but they are not a guaranteed emergency response system. Samsung describes the health and safety tools as general wellness features rather than tools for diagnosis, treatment, or medical monitoring.
What the Fit3 cannot do
- Record GPS routes without a paired phone
- Connect to Wi-Fi, LTE, or cellular networks
- Run Wear OS or download apps from Google Play
- Install third-party apps such as Spotify or Strava
- Perform an ECG or body-composition measurement
- Accept custom text input on the band
- Make calls or use voice assistants through a speaker and microphone
- Make Samsung Wallet payments from the band itself
The lack of an app store is the clearest dividing line between the Fit3 and a full smartwatch. Its utilities are built in and its phone controls are predefined; you cannot add new watch apps later.
Samsung-phone-only features
Galaxy-phone owners get the most complete version of the Fit3. The following features have notable Samsung-device requirements:
| Feature | Requirement or limitation |
|---|---|
| Camera Remote | Samsung Galaxy phone with One UI 6.0 or later, using the stock Samsung Camera app in Photo mode |
| Mode sync | Samsung phone only |
| Samsung Find | Samsung phone only; Google Find Hub works with Samsung and other Android phones |
| World Clock watch face | Not supported on non-Samsung Android phones |
| Snore detection | Requires the microphone of a nearby paired Galaxy phone |
This does not make the Fit3 unusable with other Android phones. It means the value proposition is strongest inside Samsung’s ecosystem.

At that price, the AMOLED display, battery life, broad workout selection, and notification support are compelling. A Galaxy Watch makes more sense if you need Wear OS apps, independent GPS, calls, payments, ECG, or a richer health-sensor package. Another fitness tracker may be a better fit if you use an iPhone or want broader cross-phone compatibility.
Who should buy the Galaxy Fit3?
- Buy it if: you use Android, want basic activity and sleep tracking, value long battery life, and mainly need notifications and phone controls.
- Choose it especially if: you own a Samsung Galaxy phone and want a lightweight companion rather than a full smartwatch.
- Skip it if: you use an iPhone, run without your phone, need third-party apps, want to take calls from your wrist, or expect ECG and body-composition features.

Samsung quotes up to 13 days with Always On Display disabled and light usage, or up to 3.5 days with Always On Display enabled. TechRadar testing found approximately 10 days in normal use; actual endurance varies.
The Bottom Line
The Galaxy Fit3 delivers a polished experience for an inexpensive fitness band. Its AMOLED display is excellent, the controls are straightforward, notifications are useful, and the battery can last for days rather than hours. It covers essentials—steps, workouts, heart rate, sleep, and basic safety tools—without the bulk or cost of a full smartwatch.
Its boundaries are just as clear. This is not a cheap Galaxy Watch: there is no independent GPS, app ecosystem, ECG, body-composition tracking, phone calling, or iPhone support. Buy it as a lightweight Android fitness companion, particularly for a Samsung Galaxy phone, and it is a strong value. Expect a full smartwatch and you will be disappointed.
