Samsung Galaxy Ring won Tech Advisor’s Best New Smart Ring of the Year award for 2024–25. RingConn Gen 2 was first runner-up and Ultrahuman Ring Air was second runner-up.
That is the correct historical answer. It is not a claim that Galaxy Ring remains the objectively best smart ring in August 2026: prices, availability, firmware and competing models have changed since the award article was published on December 30, 2024.

The winner: Samsung Galaxy Ring
Tech Advisor selected Galaxy Ring because it considered it the most complete overall package among the new smart rings it had reviewed and could assess at the end of 2024. The publication credited Samsung’s existing wearable experience, attractive and relatively scratch-resistant design, solid activity and wellness tracking, generally good software, useful battery life and a portable charging case.

The absence of a recurring subscription was another important advantage. For buyers who want a mainstream wearable without adding a monthly fee to the ownership cost, that makes Galaxy Ring easier to justify than subscription-based alternatives.

It was not flawless. Tech Advisor highlighted stress tracking as an area needing improvement and noted that the software experience was spread across multiple apps. Galaxy Ring also makes the most sense when it fits the buyer’s phone and wider Samsung setup. iPhone users and anyone avoiding a manufacturer-specific ecosystem should verify current phone compatibility and feature restrictions before buying from the official Samsung product page.
First runner-up: RingConn Gen 2
RingConn Gen 2 finished just behind Galaxy Ring and is the clearest alternative for buyers who put battery life first. Tech Advisor praised its slim, comfortable design, solid tracking, charging case and subscription-free ownership.
RingConn’s current product page claims 10–12 days of ring battery life, depending on size, and up to 150 days when using the charging case. It lists a titanium-alloy construction, approximately 2–3g weight, roughly 2mm thickness, IP68 water resistance rated to 100m/328ft, magnetic charging and approximately 90 minutes for a full charge. These are manufacturer specifications rather than fresh independent test results. RingConn also warns that enabling sleep-apnea monitoring may increase power consumption.

RingConn recommends wearing the sizing ring for at least 24 hours, including overnight, because fingers can be larger in the morning. That is particularly important with a smart ring: a poor fit can become uncomfortable, rotate on the finger or lead to the device being left unused.
As of the August 16, 2026 market check represented here, RingConn’s official Gen 2 page showed a $269 sale price versus $299 regular price, but also displayed the product as out of stock. Treat both the price and stock status as time-sensitive US-site signals, not permanent conditions.
Second runner-up: Ultrahuman Ring Air
Ultrahuman Ring Air took second runner-up. Tech Advisor’s case for it was its slim design, five available colours in the award coverage, readable presentation of tracking data, good battery life, no recurring subscription and attractive balance of price, design and features.

Ultrahuman’s current buying page lists Ring Air at $349, with claimed battery life of 4–6 days. It describes the ring as titanium with a PVD coating, approximately 2.4g and 2.4mm thick, with water resistance to 100m/328ft. Ultrahuman says access to Ring Air data does not require a recurring subscription.
The current page also prominently promotes the newer Ring PRO. That product was not one of Tech Advisor’s 2024 award placements. Do not confuse Ring Air’s historical runner-up position with Ring PRO’s current specifications or pricing.

Battery estimates vary with ring size, temperature, connectivity, usage and enabled features. Water-resistance ratings also do not guarantee protection in every situation: hot tubs, saunas, impacts, solvents, heavy lifting and chemicals can still create risks.

Which one should you buy?
- Choose Samsung Galaxy Ring if you use Samsung Galaxy hardware, value a polished mainstream ecosystem, want no recurring subscription and appreciate a portable charging case. This is the Tech Advisor award winner—not automatically the best choice for every buyer in 2026.
- Choose RingConn Gen 2 if maximum battery endurance and subscription-free ownership matter more than belonging to a major phone ecosystem. Check app compatibility, returns, warranty coverage and stock before ordering.
- Choose Ultrahuman Ring Air if you prefer a slim, light ring and an easy-to-read app experience, and can accept its shorter claimed battery life.
- If you use an iPhone, do not assume Galaxy Ring is suitable. Confirm current compatibility, required apps and feature access before purchase. The award article does not establish those technical details.
What to compare before ordering
Phone and app compatibility
The app ecosystem can matter more than the sensor hardware. Confirm that the ring works with your phone, that the required account and apps are available in your region, and that the health features you want are supported on your exact device. Samsung’s strongest case is likely for people already using Galaxy phones, watches and Samsung Health, while RingConn and Ultrahuman should also be checked separately for Android and iOS support.
Subscription and long-term cost
All three products were presented as subscription-free in the relevant sources, but “no subscription” does not guarantee identical analytics, cloud features, support or future feature delivery. Compare the purchase price, warranty, replacement policy and expected ownership over two or three years—not just the launch price.
Health features and medical claims
Decide whether your priority is sleep and recovery, heart rate and HRV, blood oxygen, skin temperature, stress trends, menstrual-cycle tracking, workouts or sleep-apnea-related features. Treat consumer-ring readings as wellness information unless a specific medical use is clearly authorised. Sleep-apnea and similar functions should not be treated as a diagnosis.

Fit, comfort and durability
Use the manufacturer’s sizing process and wear the sizing sample overnight. Fingers change size during sleep, heat and exercise. Also consider whether your work involves impacts, gloves, weights or chemicals. A technically capable ring is poor value if it pinches, rotates or stays in a drawer.
Why the award needs context
Tech Advisor’s award was one of 13 categories in the Tech Advisor Awards 2024–25. It assessed the products and reviews available at the end of 2024. The wording “Best New Smart Ring” is narrower than “best smart ring for every buyer.”
Most importantly, Tech Advisor said the Oura Ring 4 had been announced but could not be reviewed in time for consideration. That is an eligibility and review-availability limitation, not a verdict that Oura Ring 4 was inferior.

RingConn’s current site promotes newer products alongside Gen 2, and Ultrahuman now foregrounds Ring PRO alongside Ring Air. Those newer products must not be silently substituted into the historical award ranking.
Verdict
Samsung Galaxy Ring is the correct answer to the Tech Advisor Awards 2024–25 question. Its win reflected the strongest overall balance of design, tracking, software, battery, charging and subscription-free ownership in Tech Advisor’s award-era field.
For a purchase in 2026, however, start with your phone ecosystem, desired battery life, sizing, app preferences and current stock. RingConn Gen 2 is the stronger battery-led alternative, while Ultrahuman Ring Air remains the slim, subscription-free option. The award tells you who won in December 2024; it does not remove the need to choose the ring that fits your life now.
