These are manufacturer specifications, not results from a comparative wear or brightness test.

Dimensions and weights above are specifications published by Timex and Casio, accessed in 2026. They are not perfectly like-for-like: Timex lists case diameter and lug-to-lug, while Casio lists length, width and height. The numbers are useful for narrowing a search, but wrist fit also depends on the case shape, strap adjustment and how the watch sits on your arm.

Which one should you choose?
Choose the Timex T80 for the smallest stated case diameter
The T80’s 34mm case diameter is the smallest stated diameter in this shortlist, and Timex lists a 43mm lug-to-lug measurement. Its resin construction keeps the listed weight to 27.938g. Timex describes INDIGLO as button-activated illumination; its product page says, “Developed by Timex in the early 90s, our INDIGLO® backlight allows you to tell the time in the dark with the push of a button.” The company lists date, chronograph and alarm functions. The US product page showed pre-order status when accessed on October 9, 2026, so check current availability where you shop.

Choose the Casio A168XES-1B for a light, metal-look option
At 25g, the A168XES-1B is the lightest of these three manufacturer-listed options. Its resin case has chrome plating, and it uses a resin band rather than a metal bracelet. Casio lists an EL backlight, stopwatch and alarm, plus an estimated battery life of approximately seven years on a CR2016. Its product page says “water resistant” but gives no numerical depth rating; do not treat that wording as equivalent to a stated 50-metre rating.

Choose the Casio B640WB-1B for a stainless-steel band and a stated 50-metre rating
The B640WB-1B has a stainless-steel band, an LED backlight and a 1/100-second stopwatch. Its manufacturer-listed weight is 49g, notably more than the other two options, and its estimated CR2016 battery life is approximately three years. Casio Europe lists 50-metre water resistance for this model.
How to judge whether a digital watch will fit
For a rectangular digital watch, case width and lug-to-lug length can be more informative than case diameter alone. Check the exact model’s dimensions against a watch you already find comfortable, and look for the band’s usable length or compatible wrist range. Timex says the T80 strap fits wrists from 150–205mm (5.9–8.1in); Casio lists compatible band sizes of 138–215mm for the A168XES-1B. Those manufacturer figures help screen for fit, but do not guarantee how a watch will feel on an individual wrist.

Casio’s small-watch collection is another starting point if you want to browse beyond these models. Confirm that a particular watch has the functions and backlight you need: a small-case listing alone does not establish that it has illumination.

What the backlight and water ratings tell you
Backlight type does not establish which watch is brightest
The three product pages identify INDIGLO, EL and LED lighting, respectively, but do not provide brightness measurements under a shared test. The available specifications therefore do not establish which display is easiest to read in darkness. If night legibility is your deciding factor, inspect the watch in person or seek reliable independent testing rather than choosing based on the light’s name alone.

Read the exact water-resistance wording
“Water resistant” without a stated depth rating is not the same specification as 50 metres. Timex describes the T80’s 30m rating as suitable for light rain, sweat and splashes and does not position it as a swimming watch. For any model, check the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific watch and follow its limits rather than assuming that a backlight or everyday design implies suitability for swimming.
