What makes the Blok 33 different?
The main feature is a rotating bezel divided into four visual timer blocks. A child can turn the bezel to align one block with the minute hand and use that block to mark a short stretch of time. Blok says the basic concept does not require the child to read the time independently. The manufacturer’s premise is that a visible marker can make an interval easier to grasp than an abstract instruction such as “wait fifteen minutes.”
This is a learning aid built into an analog watch, not a digital countdown timer or a substitute for teaching clock-reading. Its usefulness depends on whether the child understands and enjoys using the bezel. A hands-on review at Beyond the Dial describes a child engaging with the bezel and handling the screw-down crown; that is an individual reviewer’s observation, not a controlled usability test.

The water-resistance rating is a listed specification, not evidence of independent testing or a guarantee for a watch that has been damaged, opened, or improperly closed. Follow Blok’s current guidance for use around water and for crown operation.
Fit, strap, and everyday use
A 33 mm case is compact by many adult-watch standards, but the number alone cannot establish fit on a particular child’s wrist. Check the case dimensions and the child’s wrist in person if possible, and consider whether the watch sits securely without restricting movement. The rotating bezel and crown also add controls for a child to learn to handle.

Blok describes the standard band as a universal run-through buckle strap and sells alternative Velcro straps through its strap shop. Some listings specify a 17 mm band, but compatibility should be checked for the exact edition and strap before ordering. A child who dislikes the supplied closure may find an alternative more comfortable, but a replacement should not be assumed to fit solely because it is marketed for Blok 33.

Blok’s FAQ says the company worked with an independent consumer-product testing laboratory to assess materials for children’s everyday wear and activities. The surfaced statement does not identify the laboratory, test methods, standards, or a report, so it does not establish certification to a named safety standard.
Battery replacement and repair access deserve particular attention. Blok says, “We designed the Blok 33 to be serviceable but not to require any servicing for a long time.” A customer review on the Navy page, however, describes difficulty obtaining battery-replacement service. That report does not establish a general service problem, but it is a reason to ask Blok how replacement batteries and repairs are handled where you live before relying on the watch for years of use.

- Check the wrist fit: Confirm the case sits comfortably and that the band can be adjusted securely.
- Check the strap: Verify the exact width and compatibility of any replacement strap, especially if the child prefers Velcro.
- Match the specification to use: The listed sapphire crystal, lume, screw-down crown, and 100 m / 10 ATM rating are substantial features for a children’s watch, but the listed ratings should not be confused with independent performance testing.
- Confirm total cost and support: Check the live price, returns, warranty terms, and local battery or repair process before purchasing.
