The Breguet Classique 7225 combines a magnetic-pivot balance with a 10 Hz escapement. Breguet says two micro-magnets keep the balance staff against an endstone and help recenter it after impact. The company certifies the watch to a maximum rate deviation of ±1 second per day; that is a manufacturer certification, not an independently verified test result.
What the magnetic pivot does
Breguet’s explanation begins with a problem in a conventional balance staff pivoting in jewels: when the watch is vertical, the staff’s weight can increase friction against the side of the jewel. The company says its magnetic pivot is designed to make the staff’s contact conditions more similar across the watch’s six positions.

How the two micro-magnets work
In Breguet’s description, a micro-magnet sits on either side of the balance staff. Their magnetic flux is deliberately imbalanced, holding one end of the staff against an endstone. If an impact displaces the staff, magnetic restoring forces are intended to recenter it. Breguet says the staff pivots at its tip against a jewel, limiting the contact area and reducing the positional variation associated with the staff pressing against the side of a jewel.
This is the manufacturer’s account of the mechanism and its intended positional benefit, not an independent assessment of its performance. Breguet says it has worked on the subject since the mid-2000s and filed a patent for the magnetic pivot on 9 November 2010. Montres Breguet’s Classique 7225 article, dated 22 October 2025, gives the company’s explanation.

How the 7225 combines the pivot with high frequency
The magnetic pivot is paired with a manually wound calibre 74SC beating at 10 Hz. Frequency, power reserve and rate deviation describe different aspects of the watch: frequency is the escapement’s operating rate, the reserve is the stated running time after winding, and rate deviation is the accuracy tolerance Breguet certifies for this model.
Breguet says a higher frequency can improve accuracy and recovery from rate anomalies, while emphasizing that reliability and sufficient available power are prerequisites. The 7225’s 60-hour power reserve is the product-page specification; 10 Hz alone does not establish superior real-world accuracy.
What accuracy does Breguet state for the Classique 7225?
Breguet certifies a maximum rate deviation of ±1 second per day for the 7225. This is the manufacturer’s stated certification, not an independently published test result. The figure should not be read as a guarantee that every watch will show exactly that deviation in every position or condition.

How the 7225 relates to Breguet’s earlier watches
Breguet presents the Classique 7225 as a 250th-anniversary interpretation inspired by watch No. 1176, which the company says was built between 1802 and 1809. In its historical account, No. 1176 was a four-minute tourbillon watch with a constant-force fusee-and-chain escapement.
The 7225 is not the first Breguet model to use the magnetic pivot. The company identifies the Classique Chronométrie 7727 as the earlier implementation. The supplied official descriptions establish that lineage, but do not provide a full technical or price comparison between the 7727 and 7225. For a model-to-model comparison, check each watch’s current official specifications rather than assuming their movements, reserves or cases are alike.
