What makes the 5555 an anniversary edition?
Breguet announced the Marine Hora Mundi 5555 on 9 September 2025 as the fifth chapter in its 250th-anniversary celebrations. Production is limited to 50 pieces, according to Breguet’s announcement. Swatch Group’s archive carries the story dated 10 September 2025.
The model is based on the current Marine Hora Mundi’s 43.9 mm case and calibre 77F1 with pre-programmable instant-jump dual time, date, day/night indication and synchronized city selection. The anniversary edition’s standout change is its special Earth-at-night dial, along with commemorative details including a Quai de l’Horloge guilloché pattern on the caseback edging, an anniversary logo and a Breguet-gold oscillating weight.
How the Earth-at-night dial is made
The dial draws on NASA’s “Black Marble” imagery of Earth at night. A gold base dial, finished in blue galvanic tones from sky blue to navy, is hand-guilloché with meridians and parallels. A translucent sapphire layer above it gives the scene depth.

The continents are painted in miniature enamel on the reverse of the sapphire, while clouds are painted on the front. Breguet says the cloud treatment varies from piece to piece, making each dial unique. Swatch Group describes a multi-stage process that includes transferring transparent petit feu enamel outlines by pad printing, then firing the enamel.
City lights are rendered in phosphorescent enamel rather than the more familiar Super-LumiNova approach. Breguet says this luminous enamel is the subject of a patent application; that wording does not establish that a patent has been granted. The contrast between the detailed dial craft and the city lights also makes the world-time function part of the visual design, rather than an unrelated complication.

How calibre 77F1 switches time zones
Calibre 77F1 is an automatic movement with a mechanical-memory system. The wearer sets the initial time and date for a first city, then uses the pusher-crown at 8 o’clock to select a second city on the 24-time-zone city disc. A system of cams, hammers and an integrated differential calculates the alternate display.
Once two cities are programmed, pressing the pusher switches the displayed time zone on demand. The watch continues running during the change, and the date adjusts automatically for the selected zone. A day/night indicator at 4 o’clock shows whether it is daytime or nighttime in the displayed zone. Breguet says the earlier calibre 77F0 became 77F1 in 2022 and lists several patents covering parts of the mechanism.

Each owner may personalize the cities assigned to the time zones. That is useful for recurring travel between chosen locations, but the system is not a substitute for setting an entirely new city every time the wearer travels: the watch’s quick switch is between the two programmed zones.
