The 2026 Breguet Marine Tourbillon Equation Marchante 5887 in platinum is reference 5887PT/YS/5WVSL, a 25-piece limited edition with a hand-painted, luminous sky map above a blue enamel dial. Its automatic movement combines a tourbillon, perpetual calendar and running equation of time. The sky depicts Paris on 26 June 1801—the date of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s tourbillon patent—and Breguet says buyers can request a sky for a chosen date and location.
What is the Breguet Marine Tourbillon Equation Marchante 5887?
Reference 5887PT/YS/5WVSL is a platinum version of the Marine 5887, introduced by Breguet in 2026 as a tribute to the 225th anniversary of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s tourbillon patent. The official product page calls it a novelty and a limited edition. Breguet dates the patent to 26 June 1801; Swatch Group’s anniversary announcement uses the same date and anniversary framing.
The “black” in the title refers to the dark, night-sky appearance of the dial, not a black case: the case is platinum. At its center, the watch brings together three substantial complications—an astronomical time display, a perpetual calendar and a 60-second tourbillon—under a miniature of the Parisian sky on the patent date.
What does the running equation of time show?
The running equation of time lets the wearer read civil time and true solar time at the same time. Civil time is the standardized time shown by the regular hour and minute hands; true solar time follows the Sun’s apparent position. The difference between them changes through the year, so the two readings do not always coincide.

Breguet’s 5887 instructions for use describe the purpose as making both readings easy to see simultaneously. Solar minutes have a dedicated hand tipped with a faceted golden sun. It is not merely a second time zone: it compares clock time with solar time.
How do the perpetual calendar and tourbillon work?
Perpetual calendar
The calendar displays the day, date, month and leap-year cycle. Its year indication distinguishes three common years from the leap year, using the sequence 1, 2, 3 and L. Breguet’s manual describes correction pushers for the calendar indications and says the calendar must be reset if the watch stops. Consult the manual before operating the correctors; the available source describes their function but does not establish a universal adjustment procedure for every calendar state.

60-second tourbillon
The tourbillon sits at 5 o’clock. Its cage completes one rotation every 60 seconds, and one of its arrow-shaped arms indicates seconds. Breguet specifies a titanium cage and silicon balance spring; the axis also reveals the equation cam. In a tourbillon, the escapement and balance wheel are mounted in a rotating cage—a mechanism Breguet explains in its tourbillon overview.
What is distinctive about the platinum sky-map dial?
Breguet describes a two-part dial with a central sapphire dial and hand-painted Grand Feu enamel in gradient blue, translucent on its underside. The upper surface carries a hand-painted miniature in luminous enamel: the night sky, constellations and Moon in their stated positions above Paris on 26 June 1801. Applied gold Arabic numerals complete the display.

The company says the sky can be personalized to represent a chosen date and location. That is a stated customization option, not a claim that every watch is delivered with a different sky; buyers should confirm the available choices and process with a Breguet point of sale.
How many were made, and what does the 5887PT/YS/5WVSL cost?
Breguet states that the edition is limited to 25 pieces. Its product page does not publish a numerical recommended retail price; instead, it directs visitors to contact a point of sale. The official Marine collection listing identifies other 5887 references, including platinum and 18K rose-gold versions, but does not establish comparative prices or current stock. Ask a Breguet point of sale for current price, ordering details and availability. No secondary-market value or live inventory is established by the cited brand information.

These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results. The diameter and lug width give a sense of the watch’s footprint, while its 11.8 mm thickness is the stated case measurement. Water resistance is a rating, not a recommendation to operate the crown underwater; follow the manual and ensure the crown is in its neutral position when relying on the stated rating.
Breguet says the Marine collection began in 1990 and was significantly revamped in 2017. The 5887’s nautical collection identity therefore sits alongside a distinctly astronomical dial and a complication combination centered on solar time and the tourbillon anniversary.
