The Breguet Tradition Minute Repeater Tourbillon 7087 combines a minute repeater, a one-minute tourbillon and a power-reserve indicator in the self-winding calibre 565DR. Its defining idea is architectural: the repeater’s gong springs, hammers, buffer, bezel and acoustic cavity are arranged around producing and managing the striking sound. Monochrome reported on the watch after its Baselworld 2015 presentation; its €419,500 figure was the announced launch price, not a current quote.
What the Breguet 7087 is
The 7087 belongs to Breguet’s Tradition line, which Monochrome describes as drawing inspiration from the brand’s 18th-century pocket watches while giving that visual language a modern, high-complication expression. Its open movement layout makes the mechanics part of the display rather than hiding them behind a conventional dial.

The Fondation Haute Horlogerie (FHH) lists the watch’s functions as hours and minutes, with a minute repeater, tourbillon and power-reserve indicator. It specifies self-winding calibre 565DR, an 80-hour power reserve, 60 jewels and a 36 mm round movement. Monochrome also reports the 80-hour reserve and describes a high-energy barrel.
Movement details reported in 2015
Monochrome describes a peripheral platinum rotor, titanium bridges and mainplate, hand-frosted surfaces and polished internal bevels. It says the minute repeater is activated by a push button. These are details from its 2015 report, not a current service or technical manual.

How the minute repeater is designed to make sound
Rather than treating the striking mechanism as an isolated complication, Breguet’s design uses the case and components around the movement as part of the sound path. Monochrome and FHH describe the following construction; claims about its acoustic benefit are design intent or source descriptions, not independent sound-test results.
Gongs attached to a vibrating bezel
The gong springs are shaped across the movement and attached to a radiating bezel secured to the caseband. Monochrome says the arrangement is intended to let the bezel and crystal vibrate, while FHH likewise describes gong springs attached to a vibrating bezel. The hammers strike vertically toward the bezel.
A semi-active buffer for the hammers
Monochrome describes a semi-active buffer as an articulated damper synchronized with the strike and pulled back by a spring. The report says the design is intended to permit greater hammer force while reducing parasitic vibration. FHH calls the buffer patent-pending in its model entry.

A gold membrane and acoustic cavity
At the back, a gold membrane fitted around the sapphire caseback forms an acoustic cavity. Monochrome describes the cavity as amplifying the repeater’s sound; FHH also identifies the membrane and cavity.

The magnetic strike governor controls the tempo of the repeater’s hammers, not the tourbillon. Monochrome describes silver weights moving beneath magnets and says magnetic resistance reduces mechanical friction and unwanted noise. FHH calls it Breguet’s patented magnetic strike governor.
The tourbillon is separate from the striking mechanism
The 7087’s tourbillon is a timekeeping complication, distinct from the minute repeater’s magnetic strike governor. Monochrome reports that the tourbillon rotates once per minute, sits on a titanium bridge and uses a silicon spring and escapement.
Breguet’s official history states: “On 26 June 1801, Abraham-Louis Breguet obtained the patent for his tourbillon regulator.” The brand explains that a tourbillon places the escapement and balance wheel in a rotating cage, distributing rate variations associated with different vertical positions. That principle addressed gravity-related positional effects in pocket watches; it does not establish that the 7087 is more accurate than another modern wristwatch. No comparative accuracy test for this reference is established in the cited sources.

Monochrome reports a 44 mm fluted case in 18-carat rose or white gold, welded lugs with screw bars, and an off-centre guilloché dial made of solid gold. FHH’s listing describes a 44 mm pink-gold case, sapphire back, grey dial and brown leather strap; it does not list both gold variants.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

The reported 44 mm diameter gives a useful sense of scale, but the cited descriptions do not provide thickness, weight, wrist measurements or a detailed fit account. A “hands-on” report alone is not evidence of a particular wearing experience.
Price and availability: what is established
Monochrome reported an announced price of €419,500 in 2015. That is historical launch pricing, not a current list price, resale valuation or indication of present availability.
Breguet’s 31 March 2026 Tradition collection update names references 7037, 7097, 7038 and 7067, but does not mention the 7087. The update therefore provides no confirmation of the 7087’s current production status or availability, and its omission alone does not establish that the watch has been discontinued.
