Its flyback function resets and restarts timing in one operation. Introduced in 2021 in green-accented and orange-accented titanium editions, the 3815 pairs that aviation-style display with a 42 mm case. Breguet’s current product page covers the green reference, 3815TI/HM/3ZU; specifications below are attributed to that listing.
How the Type XXI 3815 chronograph is laid out
The dial’s defining choice is that elapsed chronograph seconds and minutes are read from centrally mounted hands rather than from conventional separate elapsed-time subdials. Two subdials serve other functions: running seconds at 9 o’clock and a 24-hour day/night indication at 3. A date window sits at 6. Independent launch coverage describes this as a cleaner arrangement than some earlier Type XXI layouts, while the central minute hand is a particularly distinctive element; whether it is easier to read will depend on the wearer and conditions.
Flyback operation is useful when timing successive intervals: while the chronograph is running, the function resets the hands and starts timing again in one operation, rather than requiring a stop, reset, and separate restart. Breguet’s Type XXI 3815 instruction manual describes the feature as “specific to aeronautics” and links it to the history of aviation. Consult the Breguet instruction manual for the watch’s operating guidance.
Current official specifications for the green reference
Breguet’s current official product listing is for the green-accented 3815TI/HM/3ZU. It specifies the following; these are manufacturer-listed specifications for that reference, not independently measured figures.

Green and orange editions: what is shared and what differs
Launch coverage reported two titanium color variants, each limited to 250 pieces. That is historical edition-size information; it does not establish whether either is currently available.

The practical difference identified in launch coverage is the accent color. Both are reported with a titanium case, black dial, flyback chronograph, 24-hour indication, date, and calfskin strap. The current manufacturer specification table above applies specifically to the green reference; the available material does not establish a separate current official specification listing for the orange one. For a pre-owned example, condition and provenance matter alongside the color and reference.
Why published specifications differ
Older launch-era sources do not agree with Breguet’s current green-reference page on every technical detail. SJX reported a 15.2 mm case height and caliber 582Q/A; the Fondation Haute Horlogerie also gives a 15.2 mm height and a different movement component count. Breguet’s current page instead lists 15.7 mm and caliber 584Q/A with 323 components. The available sources do not explain whether the mismatch reflects a page correction, reporting error, or a variant or configuration difference. For current manufacturer specifications, the values in this article follow Breguet’s listing for 3815TI/HM/3ZU; the older figures should not be combined with them as if they were a single specification set.

Launch price and availability are historical
SJX’s June 2021 launch report listed a US$14,900 price and said boutique availability at that time was limited to Breguet boutiques. Those details describe the launch period, not today’s retail price, secondary-market value, or current stock. No current inventory or price is established here.

Breguet lists a 22 mm band attachment and a calfskin strap for the green reference, so 22 mm is a sensible width to use when looking for a replacement strap. Width alone does not confirm compatibility: check the spring-bar dimensions, attachment geometry, clasp interface, and the strap’s construction before purchase. A third-party strap should not be assumed to be made or approved by Breguet.
