A documented example is reference AB0110ST14/2, numbered 366/1000. Its auction catalog describes a steel case, black dial, B01 chronometer, date and chronograph functions, and rubber strap. Specifications and configuration should be verified against the exact watch, since the available catalog documents one example rather than every variant.
Which Breitling Chronomat Frecce Tricolori is the 44 mm model?
The 44 mm watch is an older Chronomat Frecce Tricolori edition. Dorotheum’s catalog identifies one example as reference AB0110ST14/2 and number 366/1000 in a series described as 1,000 pieces. That reference and edition count distinguish it from Breitling’s current Chronomat B01 42 Frecce Tricolori, reference AB01344A1C1A1, which is a separate 42 mm model limited to 250 pieces.
Breitling traces the Frecce Tricolori chronograph to a watch developed and launched with the Italian aerobatic squadron in 1983; the Chronomat itself followed in 1984. Those milestones provide the historical connection, but they do not make the 44 mm and 42 mm watches the same reference or edition. Breitling’s current product page describes the present-day model, not the older AB0110 variant.
What are the older 44 mm watch’s specifications?
The strongest specific description available is Dorotheum’s catalog entry for the AB0110ST14/2 example. It lists a steel case of approximately 44 mm, a B01 chronometer movement, date and stopwatch functions, a black dial with Arabic numerals, and a rubber strap with folding clasp. These details describe that cataloged watch; check the individual reference and supplied components before treating them as universal to every example.

A secondary database lists additional specifications for the broader Chronomat 44 family. These are useful reference points, but they are not an official specification sheet for the exact Frecce Tricolori variant.

These family figures come from BreitlingSource’s Chronomat 44 reference entry. The auction catalog independently describes the movement in its particular Frecce Tricolori example as a B01 chronometer; it does not establish every family specification for that edition.

How does it differ from the current 42 mm Frecce Tricolori?
The current model shares the squadron tribute but differs in size, reference, configuration, and edition count. Breitling’s product page lists the current watch as a 42 mm stainless-steel Chronomat B01 with a blue dial, Rouleaux bracelet, approximately 70-hour reserve, 200 m water resistance, and a 250-piece limitation. Do not apply those specifications or that limitation to the older 44 mm AB0110 edition.

What does the available auction result say about price?
Dorotheum recorded a realized price of EUR 2,000 for one 2013 example at its March 10, 2025 auction. The lot notes rotor noise and “service required.” This is a historical result for one used watch with service concerns—not a current asking price, representative resale range, or valuation for a different condition or configuration. Current supply and a dependable market average are not established by that result.
For a pre-owned example, assess the exact reference, condition, service records, paperwork, and provenance. A qualified watchmaker’s inspection is prudent, particularly when an auction record for a comparable watch specifically flags movement noise or service needs.

What should you check before buying or replacing the strap?
- Match the reference on the case and paperwork to the specific 44 mm edition; do not assume the current 42 mm model’s details apply.
- Compare the watch’s condition and service history with the seller’s description, and ask for documentation of any recent work.
- Confirm what is included—such as the original strap, clasp, box, and papers—rather than assuming an auctioned configuration was standard for every example.
- The Chronomat 44 family reference lists a 22 mm lug width, making “22 mm watch strap” a reasonable starting search. Width alone does not establish fit: verify the exact reference, end-link shape, spring bars, strap length, and clasp before ordering.
