What does Spring Drive distinguish?

No. The SNR033 is a Prospex LX Spring Drive GMT, but its reported specifications differ: Fratello’s 2019 hands-on article gives it 100m water resistance, a 44.8mm diameter and a 14.7mm thickness. Those numbers are not evidence for the SBDB017. The similar Spring Drive and GMT descriptions make the reference number especially important when comparing listings.

How does it compare with the SPB381, SPB383 and SPB385?
Those 2023 Prospex GMT divers share the 200m rating and 72-hour reserve figure, but they are not Spring Drive watches. Seiko identifies their caliber 6R54 as automatic and mechanical, and gives their case dimensions as 42.0mm by 12.9mm. Seiko also says their GMT hand can be moved independently in one-hour increments without interrupting the time-of-day hands. That setting description applies to those SPB references; the available SBDB017 material does not confirm the same behavior.

A separate Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT, reference SBGE201, appears on the US Grand Seiko Boutique listing at USD $5,800 with the status “No Longer Available” in the listing accessed in 2026; that is a different watch and says nothing about the SBDB017’s price or availability.
