The best-supported match for “Luminox Tony Kanaan Limited Edition Watch Version 2” is the Tony Kanaan 1180 Series Automatic Valjoux Chronograph, reference 1181. Luminox’s official Japanese product and launch pages identify it by that model and reference, but do not call it “Version 2.” The watch is an automatic chronograph announced in 2015, limited to 310 pieces worldwide.
What is the Luminox Tony Kanaan “Version 2”?
“Version 2” is not confirmed as an official Luminox model name in the available product or launch information. The clearest documented identification is Ref. 1181, a Tony Kanaan 1180 Series automatic chronograph. Luminox describes it as a collaboration with racing driver Tony Kanaan, with design details that include his number 10, a TK logo and red accents. Luminox Japan’s Ref. 1181 product page and its December 2015 launch announcement use the reference and series terminology rather than “Version 2.”
The name matters because the Tony Kanaan series contains distinct watches. Ref. 1181 is an automatic Valjoux chronograph; another Tony Kanaan edition, A.1142, is identified in a dealer listing as a quartz model. Check the reference number rather than relying on a seller’s “Version 2” wording.

How many Ref. 1181 watches were made?
Luminox Japan announced a worldwide edition of 310 pieces in 2015. The announcement describes the watch in Japanese as “世界限定310本。インディチャンピオン・トニー・カナーンのシグネチャーモデル。”—“A worldwide limited edition of 310 pieces. Tony Kanaan, Indy champion, signature model.” This is the announced edition size; it does not establish present availability, surviving examples or resale value.
How to distinguish Ref. 1181 from other Tony Kanaan editions
Reference numbers separate watches that may share the driver’s name but differ substantially. For example, a dealer listing identifies the A.1142 as a quartz Tony Kanaan limited edition of 999 pieces, while Ref. 1181 is the automatic Valjoux 7750 chronograph with a 310-piece announced run. The A.1142 details are from Pauling’s dealer listing; they should not be applied to Ref. 1181.

What to check when considering a Ref. 1181
The official pages establish historical identity and specifications, not current stock, asking prices or the authenticity of an individual listing. If evaluating a particular watch, request clear photos of the reference and serial markings, movement and case, and any original documentation. Check the seller’s history and ask what warranty applies in your region; the two-year warranty listed by Luminox Japan is tied to a Japanese official guarantee card.
Luminox lists a 26 mm belt width, but that measurement alone does not confirm that every 26 mm replacement strap will fit the attachment or buckle. Verify fit with a qualified watchmaker or the strap supplier before ordering.
