Yes. Bucherer announced that it had acquired Tourneau LLC on January 31, 2018; the transaction closed on April 9, 2018, according to adviser Houlihan Lokey. The deal gave the Swiss retailer a U.S. presence through Tourneau, then described as a 28-location luxury watch chain operating in 10 states. Those store figures describe the business at the time of the announcement, not its current footprint.
What happened in the Bucherer–Tourneau deal?
Bucherer announced its acquisition of Tourneau LLC on January 31, 2018. The seller was an investor group led by Green Equity Investors IV, an affiliate of Leonard Green & Partners. Houlihan Lokey’s transaction record gives the closing date as April 9, 2018.
The announcement described Tourneau as a New York-based luxury watch retailer founded in 1900, with 28 locations across 10 states and an e-commerce website. Leonard Green & Partners also said Tourneau welcomed more than four million visitors a year; that figure is the announcement’s claim, not a current or independently established visitor count. Houlihan Lokey described Tourneau’s assortment at the time as more than 8,000 unique styles from over 100 brands.
Why did Bucherer acquire Tourneau?
Bucherer said the acquisition would establish a U.S. footprint and extend its watches and jewelry offering to American customers. In the announcement, Bucherer Group CEO Guido Zumbül described Tourneau as an opportunity to bring the group’s fine-watch and jewelry offering to the United States. That was Bucherer’s stated rationale for the transaction.

What is Tourneau’s relationship to Bucherer today?
Bucherer’s official company history places the Tourneau transaction within its U.S. expansion in 2018. Its history also says Bucherer became part of Rolex in 2024. These are separate corporate events: Bucherer acquired Tourneau in 2018, and Rolex later acquired Bucherer.
Tourneau’s current company page uses Tourneau/Bucherer branding and describes authorized watch retail, certified pre-owned watches, watch sales, and service. The 2018 announcement’s 28-location and 10-state figures should not be read as a current store count.
