What watch is the Villeret GMT Date?
The Villeret GMT Date is Blancpain’s reference 6662, introduced in 2019. It displays local time and a second, reference time, with the date tied to local time. Blancpain’s current US listing provides a precise specification baseline for the steel, white-dial reference 6662 1127 55B; it should not be taken as a complete list of every metal or configuration offered over the model’s history.
The Villeret collection has a longer history than this GMT model. Blancpain says the Villeret name was added to its classic line in 2003, and traces the design codes recognizable today to a 1983 complete-calendar moonphase model. That collection history is distinct from the GMT Date’s 2019 introduction.
How do the GMT hand and date work?
Blancpain describes the watch as displaying two time zones simultaneously. The main local-time display is foregrounded, and the date is linked to that local time. The second, reference-time indication is read on a 24-hour scale; its hand has a red triangular tip.

According to the 2019 launch sheet, the crown is used for fast GMT correction, date adjustment and setting the time. Blancpain’s wording describes the intended controls and display; it is not an independent demonstration of operation.

The 3 bar water-resistance rating is a modest specification, so this is not the model to choose for regular swimming or water sports. Blancpain also lists a Mille Mailles bracelet configuration for the current steel model; check the exact reference and fastening on the product page when comparing configurations.
Why do some specifications say 40 mm and four days?
Blancpain’s 2019 launch sheet describes the watch with a 40 mm case and a four-day power reserve. The current US listing for steel reference 6662 1127 55B gives a 40.50 mm case and 100 hours. These are figures from different dated manufacturer materials; use the current reference-specific listing for the present steel example rather than treating the launch-era rounded figures as its current specifications.

The launch document described both 18K red gold with an opaline dial and steel with a white dial, each offered at the time with an alligator strap or metal bracelet. Availability and configurations can change, so the launch options do not establish what is currently offered in every market.

That is a dated US price snapshot, not a global or permanent price; the page notes that fastening can affect price. What this review can—and cannot—establish
The model-specific evidence here supports an explanation of the 6662’s intended display and the listed specifications, but not a firsthand judgment about comfort, finishing in daily wear, timekeeping performance or crown feel. A surfaced video review from The 1916 Company concerns the Villeret Annual Calendar GMT reference 6670, a different watch, and should not be treated as a review of this GMT Date.
For a prospective buyer, the central practical distinction is the layout: local time drives the date, while the second zone is read on a 24-hour scale. The steel reference is 40.50 mm wide, has a 22 mm lug width and a 100-hour stated reserve, but its 3 bar rating limits its suitability for water exposure.
