The Bulgari Octo Finissimo is a design-led Swiss watch family built around an octagonal case and unusually slim mechanical movements. Its 2026 37 mm models introduce a new automatic micro-rotor calibre, BVF 100; they are not simply smaller versions of the established 40 mm watches, which use different specifications and, in the cited automatic reference, calibre BVL 138.
What makes the Octo Finissimo distinctive?
The collection brings together two ideas: an architectural octagonal design and the technical challenge of making mechanical watches exceptionally thin. Bulgari says Octo’s geometry draws inspiration from Rome’s Massentius Basilica; that is the brand’s account of the design’s origins. The collection debuted in 2014 and combines Italian design with Swiss watchmaking.
The octagonal outline is more than a simple bezel shape: the stepped geometry and restrained, often monochrome finishes give the watches a recognisable architectural character. The thinness is equally central, but exact dimensions and capabilities depend on the reference and complication.
How did the collection develop?
Bulgari identifies 2014 as the Octo Finissimo debut. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry’s 2022 account describes the collection’s subsequent development through technical miniaturisation, a distinctive shape and monochrome styling. It dates the 40 mm automatic milestone to 2017 and the chronograph GMT achievement to 2019.

Those historical figures need their dates attached: the Federation’s 2022 article gives the 2017 automatic a total thickness of 5.15 mm and a movement thickness of 2.23 mm; it reports a 3.3 mm movement for the 2019 chronograph GMT. What changed with the 2026 37 mm line?
The 2026 collection introduces the automatic BVF 100 micro-rotor movement. Bulgari lists it at 2.35 mm high and 31 mm in diameter, with a 72-hour power reserve. The brand says it has 20% less volume than the movement in the 40 mm Octo Finissimo; that comparison is Bulgari’s, not an independent measurement. Bulgari says development and validation at its Swiss manufacture took three years.

The 37 mm family is offered in sandblasted titanium, satin-polished titanium and satin-polished yellow gold, as well as a sandblasted titanium minute repeater configuration using calibre BVL 362. Since the complication and finish differ, a case specification published for one version should not be assumed for another. Bulgari’s cited pages do not provide complete case-thickness and water-resistance specifications for every 37 mm reference.
How do the 37 mm and 40 mm models compare?
The clearest comparison is between the new 37 mm family and the specific 40 mm titanium automatic reference 102713. The table separates the published facts from details that are not established across an entire family.

Specifications in the table apply only to the named source context or reference; they should not be transferred to another Octo Finissimo because it shares the collection name or movement family. For any two references under consideration, compare diameter and case thickness, calibre and winding system, reserve, complication, material and finish, water resistance, production status and reference number. - Confirm the reference. A collection name alone is not enough to establish dimensions, movement or water resistance.
- Match the movement to the watch. The 37 mm automatic uses BVF 100; reference 102713 uses BVL 138. A minute repeater is a different configuration again.
- Check practical specifications individually. Do not infer water resistance or total thickness from movement height, or carry the 102713 figures over to another reference.
- Verify the market and listing. Bulgari’s 102713 product page displayed $16,600 excluding taxes when accessed on October 8, 2026, on a Colombia-market URL. That is a dated, market-specific observation—not a global or evergreen price. Confirm local price, availability, production status and the seller before purchasing.
For reference 102713, Bulgari’s official product page lists the movement, dimensions and water resistance: Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic 102713. Phillips identifies the 103709 collaboration edition as a 50-piece edition and gives its specifications: Phillips Octo Finissimo special edition. Bulgari’s pages for the 2026 line and variants are Bulgari Octo Finissimo collection and Bulgari Octo Finissimo 37 mm.
