A GMT or dual-time watch typically pairs local time with one reference zone; a world-time watch is designed to show multiple zones together. These five options cover both approaches, from a recognizable two-zone Rolex to city-selecting and 24-zone displays.
How to choose between GMT, dual time and world time
“World time” and “multiple time zones” are not interchangeable descriptions of one display. A GMT-style watch generally makes local time and a reference zone easy to track, often with a 24-hour hand and bezel. A city-based world-time display is more useful when you regularly need to compare several places at once. Some watches combine a city selector with a second-zone display, rather than showing all zones simultaneously.
The practical questions are how many zones you need to read at once, how the watch lets you set or identify them, and whether its case and specifications suit your day-to-day use. The models below are a varied comparison, not a ranking based on comparative testing.
Five high-end watches for tracking other time zones
Rolex GMT-Master II: local time plus a reference zone
The GMT-Master II is a clear choice if you want a conventional two-zone travel watch rather than a 24-city world-time display. Rolex says it “simultaneously displays the time in two time zones”: the 24-hour hand tracks a reference zone, while the rotatable graduated bezel provides another way to read that hand against a different time. Its independent local-hour adjustment is useful when crossing time zones because local time can be changed without resetting the reference indication.

The cited Rolex model has a 40 mm Oystersteel case, 100 m water resistance, calibre 3285 and approximately 70 hours of power reserve, according to the official GMT-Master II product and feature page. Those are manufacturer specifications; they do not turn this two-zone layout into a simultaneous view of the world’s major cities.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Geographic: select a city, read a second zone
The Polaris Geographic is suited to someone who prefers selecting a named city over calculating a time difference. Jaeger-LeCoultre describes a 24-city selector and a second-time-zone display at 6 o’clock; the brand calls it a “dual time display” supported by a world-time disc. City selection helps identify the chosen zone, but the format is a second-zone display, not a readout of every city at once.

For reference Q9078640, the official Polaris Geographic page lists a 42 mm stainless-steel case, 10 bar water resistance, calibre 939 and a 70-hour power reserve. Its city selector makes it a distinct alternative to a GMT hand and bezel.
Patek Philippe World Time 7129J-001: a simultaneous 24-zone view
If your priority is seeing many zones together, the World Time 7129J-001 is the most direct match among these five. Patek Philippe describes a 24-zone indication with a day/night display, driven by its self-winding 240 HU calibre. Rather than tracking just a home and reference time, the display is intended to make time comparisons across the listed zones visible at a glance.

A. Lange & Söhne LANGE 1 TIME ZONE: home time and a second zone
The LANGE 1 TIME ZONE is for a reader who wants home time and one selected second zone visible together. A. Lange & Söhne’s press information explicitly distinguishes its approach from a world-time watch: it provides home time and a second zone at a glance. The collection page presents it as a way to read cities around the world, but that should not be mistaken for a simultaneous 24-zone display.

Longines Spirit Zulu Time: a more accessible luxury GMT option
The Spirit Zulu Time is worth considering if you want a GMT-style travel watch at a more accessible luxury tier than the named haute-luxury world-timers in this guide. That is a broad positioning judgment, not a like-for-like price comparison: prices for the cited Longines references were not retrieved.

Current Longines product pages show 39 mm and 42 mm examples. The brand describes the range as GMT-date automatic watches with a silicon balance spring, COSC chronometer certification, a ceramic bezel and up to 72 hours of power reserve. The two case sizes make fit a practical point of comparison; try the specific reference on if possible, since diameter alone does not establish how a watch will wear.

A higher-looking number alone does not establish suitability for a particular use.
Choose by the way you travel
- One reference zone is enough: Compare the Rolex GMT-Master II and Longines Spirit Zulu Time. Both use a GMT-style approach; the cited Rolex page specifies its 24-hour hand and rotatable bezel, while Longines describes the Zulu Time as a GMT-date range.
- You want a city selector and second-zone display: The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Geographic names the city through a 24-city selector and shows a second zone at 6 o’clock.
- You compare several zones at once: The Patek Philippe World Time 7129J-001 is the clearly documented simultaneous 24-zone option in this group.
- You want home and one other city together: The LANGE 1 TIME ZONE is explicitly positioned around those two readings, rather than a world-time display.
- Case size matters: The cited examples range from Patek’s 36 mm to the 42 mm JLC and Longines options; Rolex is 40 mm, and Longines also offers a 39 mm example. Dimensions are a starting point, not a substitute for assessing fit.
Check price, reference and availability before buying
Prices and stock are market- and seller-specific, and the available manufacturer pages do not provide comparable current prices for all five watches. The Patek page displayed $57,515 when accessed in 2026; the other cited material does not establish a like-for-like set of current quotes. Confirm the exact reference, local price, warranty terms and seller status for your country before purchase. A product page alone does not establish that a particular listing is in stock or that a marketplace seller is authorized.
The IWC Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Chronograph IW395001 is another relevant time-zone watch, but IWC places its page under past collections. Treat it as an archived or secondary-market option unless current production and authorized availability are confirmed; the archive page is not evidence that it is currently sold new.
