What is the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon?
Released in 2018, this is the carbon-cased version of Bvlgari’s exceptionally slim Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater. It retains the hand-wound BVL 362 movement introduced in the 2016 titanium model, while changing the case material and acoustic presentation. The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) records a 50-piece limited edition; Phillips catalogs the Carbon model as reference 102794 and identifies a numbered example.
It is a specialized high-complication watch rather than a conventional daily sports watch: its defining achievement is fitting a minute repeater into a case only 6.85 mm thick. The published water-resistance rating is 10 m, which should not be taken as suitability for swimming or water sports.

How the minute repeater works—and why the case matters
A minute repeater tells the time acoustically when activated. The BVL 362 strikes hours, quarter-hours and the remaining minutes, allowing the wearer to hear the time rather than read the dial. The caliber is manually wound, runs at 3 Hz and is reported to provide a 42-hour power reserve.

The 3.12 mm movement sits inside a 6.85 mm case, a notably compact arrangement for a watch with a striking mechanism. The Carbon model’s dial openings and gongs fixed directly to the case are described as design choices intended to help sound radiate and transmit. Those descriptions explain the acoustic approach; they do not establish a measured loudness comparison with another repeater.
CTP carbon construction, weight and bracelet discrepancy
Carbon Thin Ply is a carbon-fiber-reinforced thermosetting epoxy composite. The material gives the watch its dark, layered appearance and contributes to the reported 47 g total weight. The dial is also described as black CTP, with cutouts around the hour markers and at the small-seconds display.

Launch price and what the auction record does—and does not—show
Hodinkee and SJX reported an announced price of US$160,000 at the 2018 launch. This is a historical launch price, not a current MSRP. Phillips records a later Hong Kong auction sale of one numbered reference 102794 for HK$609,600. That single result is an observation for one lot, not a reliable current valuation or evidence of broad market pricing.
A current official retail price and broad current availability are not established by the cited records. Because the edition was limited to 50, a buyer looking for one should treat condition, completeness, provenance and the exact bracelet configuration as specific to the individual example.
