Only Watch announced a collection of 62 one-off watch lots on June 29, 2023. The auction was first scheduled for November 5, 2023, then postponed; the 10th edition was held at Geneva’s Palexpo on May 10, 2024. The available lot descriptions highlight creations from major maisons, independent watchmakers and collaborative teams—but do not establish a verified, final lot-by-lot catalogue or sale prices.

What was Only Watch 2023?

Only Watch is a charity auction initiative created to raise funds for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Its 10th edition brought together unique watch creations intended for a one-off auction, rather than regular retail models.

The collection was announced in 2023, which is why it is often called “Only Watch 2023.” That label refers to the announced collection, not the date the auction ultimately took place.

What happened to the auction date?

Date What happened
February 1, 2023 Only Watch announced the 10th edition and scheduled the auction for November 5, 2023, at Geneva’s Palexpo, with a world tour planned from September to November.
June 29, 2023 The announced collection of 62 unique lots was revealed.
October 23, 2023 Only Watch’s press-release archive records an announcement postponing the auction.
May 10, 2024 Only Watch’s official site says the 10th edition was held at Geneva’s Palexpo congress centre.

The revised final catalogue and lot-by-lot realized prices are not established here. Original auction estimates and descriptions should not be read as proof of what a lot ultimately sold for or whether it is available to buy now.

Standout watches from the announced collection

F.P. Journe Chronomètre Furtif Bleu

Monochrome Watches’ June 29, 2023 account describes a tantalum watch with a rose-gold movement and an enamel dial. Its numerals appear in reflected light, making the dial’s legibility part of the visual concept.

Audemars Piguet white-ceramic Royal Oak

The announced creation was a white-ceramic Royal Oak with a self-winding openworked tourbillon, combining the recognizable case design with a prominent view of the movement.

Tudor Prince Chronograph One

The Prince Chronograph One was described as a yellow-gold chronograph powered by an automatic column-wheel chronograph movement developed and produced by Tudor.

Richard Mille pendant watch

Richard Mille’s contribution was reported as a pendant watch, an example of the collection’s reach beyond conventional wristwatch formats.

Other reported concepts

  • Revolution Watch describes Singer Reimagined x Genus’s 8-Track as having an 18K gold micro-sculpture that moves around an infinity-shaped track.
  • Its account describes Ressence’s Type 12 as using a DNA-themed dial.
  • Rexhep Rexhepi’s Chronomètre Antimagnétique is presented as a historically inspired precision watch.

These are descriptions of the announced pieces, not independent technical tests.

Which brands and collaborations took part?

Contemporary reports do not agree on a single participant count. Monochrome Watches reported 72 watchmakers and brands on June 29, 2023; Revolution Watch reported 73, including 16 collaborations. Those figures are attributed to their respective reports and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Collaborations highlighted in the collection coverage included:

  • H. Moser & Cie. with MB&F
  • Jacob & Co. with Concepto
  • Ludovic Ballouard with Brittany Nicole Cox
  • Angelus with Château Angelus
  • Frederique Constant with Christiaan van der Klaauw
  • Reservoir with Telos
  • Singer Reimagined with Genus
  • Petermann Bédat with Auffret

Czapek’s use of a Lederer movement was also noted as a collaboration-related element.

How to read the “complete list” of watches

The announced collection contained 62 lots, but the available material for this article does not establish all 62 lot names and specifications. The examples and collaborations above are therefore not a substitute for a complete lot-by-lot catalogue. Specialist coverage from Revolution Watch and The Watch Pages published longer illustrated overviews with descriptions and estimates; The Watch Pages also updated its chronology to reflect the postponement and May 2024 sale date.

Any estimates in coverage refer to the announced auction, not final sale results. Because the lots were created as unique charity-auction pieces, their announcement does not establish ordinary retail availability.

Why the auction supported DMD research

Only Watch was founded to raise funds for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Its project page says the funds have helped establish an international network of public and private laboratories focused on potential therapeutic approaches, including gene therapy, cell therapy and repair of mutated nucleic acids, particularly through modulation of mRNA splicing.

In a February 2023 press release, Only Watch said the first nine editions had raised nearly CHF 100 million. Its current project page gives a near CHF/EUR 130 million figure; the two statements use different dates and currency framing and should not be combined into a single figure. The project page also cites about one in 3,500 boys affected by DMD, without a displayed publication date for that estimate.
