What the Original MN strap is
“MN” refers to Marine Nationale. The name describes a strap style associated with dive-watch use; it does not establish that Erika’s Originals’ current product is officially issued, approved or endorsed by the French Navy. Erika’s Originals describes the Original MN as in-house woven elastic nylon webbing with a custom Spandex elastic core. The maker says the webbing regulates moisture and that the strap can be micro-adjusted. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independently verified performance findings in this review. The maker also says it and a small team handcraft straps to customer specifications in an atelier in Valencia; its company page lists a registered business address in Sofia, Bulgaria. These may refer to separate production and registration locations.

The product page presents choices for lug width, wrist size, hardware, slider, stitching and issue-number print. The maker’s broader homepage also describes choices such as strap color and centerline. Personalization is the clearest reason to consider the price: the buyer can specify several details rather than choosing only from a fixed, one-size configuration. Whether those options justify €90 depends on how much the fit and finish matter to you; no controlled comparison establishes that this strap delivers better value than other straps.
Fit: measure your wrist and check your watch
Measure your wrist circumference with a tape measure or a strip of paper, following the maker’s instructions. Erika’s Originals says to add 5 mm if you prefer to wear the strap loose, and says its strap can be adjusted by approximately 30 mm or more. Confirm your watch’s lug width before selecting a configuration; a strap must match the distance between the lugs to fit the watch.

The maker says some buyers with a large watch and smaller wrist may need a length adjustment and asks for the watch’s lug-to-lug measurement in those cases. If you plan to wear the strap over a diving dry suit, contact the maker before ordering for sizing guidance. Do not assume the standard wrist measurement alone will ensure a suitable fit over a suit.
What to know about returns and warranty
Erika’s Originals’ product page states a 12-month limited warranty, reduced to three months for products made with vintage or second-hand materials. It also says custom and made-to-measure items cannot be returned, and that mounting a watch on the strap prevents a return. Because these terms can change and this is a configurable product, review the current manufacturer terms and conditions before placing an order.

Comfort, durability and the spaceflight story
The maker calls its MN straps comfortable and says the webbing regulates moisture. Those claims may help explain the design intent, but the available sources do not provide comparative wear tests or long-term durability results. Treat comfort and moisture handling as personal-use questions rather than established advantages over other elastic or nylon straps.
The product page says an original strap with vintage webbing, on a watch belonging to the maker’s friend Dave Sutton, was launched toward the International Space Station on April 2, 2018. This is the maker’s account, not independent confirmation of the mission detail or of the product page’s separate “NASA certified for space flight” label. A past spaceflight anecdote does not demonstrate the current Original MN’s durability in ordinary wear or underwater use.
