The records do not specify a consistent measurement method. For a watch under consideration, confirm the actual case dimensions and how they were measured rather than relying on a general “Cartier Concorde” size.
Is the Cartier Concorde quartz or mechanical?
The auction descriptions show that movement type varies across documented examples. The circa-1980 Numismatica Ars Classica watch is described as having a Cal. 2512 movement; the Osenat listing for ref. 165729 describes a hand-wound mechanical movement; and the Watches of Knightsbridge listing for ref. 8 81006 describes a quartz movement. These are specifications attributed to particular auction examples, not a universal specification for all Concorde-marked Tank Must watches.

What should you check before buying one?
Compare the particular watch in front of you with documentation for its own reference. Auction descriptions identify examples, but they do not authenticate another watch or establish that every component on a listed example is original.

- Reference and markings: Record the reference and serial or case markings, then compare them with the seller’s documentation.
- Case measurements: Ask for measured dimensions and the method used; do not substitute dimensions from a different reference.
- Movement: Verify the movement type and caliber through appropriate inspection. The examples in the cited records do not all share a movement.
- Dial and case condition: Examine the Concorde signature, dial, case, and signs of wear or alteration.
- Originality and completeness: Ask whether the strap, buckle, and other parts are represented as original, and whether original papers or a box are included.
- Provenance and authentication: Distinguish supporting paperwork and a documented history from a seller’s assertion or an auction description. Neither by itself establishes the authenticity of a different watch.
Is the Cartier Concorde collectible or rare?
The Concorde and Air France markings make the variant identifiable to collectors, but the cited auction records do not establish its total production, population rarity, or market-wide demand. They also do not provide a dependable current valuation. A collectible assessment therefore needs more than the dial mark: compare the reference, dimensions, movement, condition, originality, provenance, and supporting documentation, and use recent comparable sales for any price judgment.
