The “Cartier Concorde” is the Cartier Tank Must Air France Concorde: a vintage Must de Cartier Tank variant with Concorde and Air France branding. A periodical account reports that Air France arranged to sell it with a Concorde-signed dial and Air France colors, while an archive documents a Must de Cartier watches advertisement among materials collected on one Air France Concorde flight in 1988. Its connection to the aircraft is well supported; the evidence does not establish that it was available on every flight.
What is the Cartier Concorde?
It is not a separate aircraft-themed Cartier collection established by the available records. The watch is described as a Must version of the Tank, and an auction catalogue identifies an example as “Tank Must – Air France Concorde.” Collectors may also encounter it described as the Must de Cartier Concorde or Cartier Tank Must Air France Concorde. A.P.CO.S.’s Mach 2 periodical describes the watch and its reported sales arrangement; Numismatica Ars Classica’s catalogue records an example dated to about 1980.

Why was it sold on Concorde flights?
The most plausible explanation is that the branded watch suited Concorde’s prestige-oriented passenger experience and offered travelers a distinctive souvenir. That is an interpretation of the setting and product, not a documented explanation from Cartier or Air France: the available sources do not record a company statement explaining why this watch was chosen or why it was sold onboard.

What evidence connects the watch to onboard sales?
A reported Air France–Cartier arrangement
A.P.CO.S.’s Mach 2 periodical reports that Air France and Cartier agreed to sell a Must Tank personalized with Concorde branding and Air France colors. Its account gives a price of 2,200 French francs. That is a reported period figure, not a current valuation; the accessible record does not establish the issue’s publication date. A.P.CO.S., Mach 2, issue 49.
An advertisement collected on a 1988 flight
The Museum of Flight Archives records that passenger Eileen L. Broomell collected materials on an Air France Concorde trip dated July 9, 1988. Among them was a “Must de Cartier” watches advertisement. This is concrete archival evidence of watch advertising connected with at least one flight, but it does not show that every Concorde flight carried the advertisement or stocked the watch. What “exclusive to Concorde” can and cannot mean
The periodical describes a sales agreement, and the auction catalogue calls the model exclusive to the aircraft. Together with the flight archive, these sources support the onboard-sales story. They do not establish universal availability across every route, flight, or year, so claims that passengers could buy it on every Concorde flight go beyond the documented evidence.

What is known about its date and historical price?
The auction catalogue dates one Cartier Tank Must Air France Concorde example to about 1980. The periodical’s 2,200-franc figure is the reported historical price; it should not be read as a present-day market value. No current valuation is established by these records, and a vintage watch’s price depends on the specific example.
