The full-metal “CasiOak” is the G-SHOCK GM-B2100: an octagonal 2100-series watch with an analog-digital display and a stainless-steel exterior. Casio announced silver, black-ion-plated, and rose-gold-ion-plated versions in 2022. Its exterior is metal, but its construction still includes resin shock-buffering components; “full-metal” does not mean every part inside the watch is metal.

What is the full-metal CasiOak?

“CasiOak” is a colloquial name for the octagonal design used by G-SHOCK’s 2100 series. The GM-B2100 brings that design to a full-metal exterior while retaining the analog-digital layout associated with the line. Casio traces the octagonal form to the original DW-5000C and says the first 2100-style GA-2100 arrived in 2019.

Casio’s GM-B2100 product information describes a circular hairline finish on the bezel and hairline and mirror finishes on the band surfaces. Those are finish details, not evidence of how the watch wears or how well its surfaces hold up over time.

Is the GM-B2100 really all metal?

No: “full-metal” refers to the exterior. Casio says stainless steel is used for the case, band, and bezel, while fine resin buffering components sit between the bezel and case to help protect the module from shock. Its 2022 announcement also describes a shock-resistant structure adapted to the full-metal design, including the screw-back case and the band and bezel joints. The construction therefore combines a metal exterior with components that support shock resistance.

What are the GM-B2100’s specifications and functions?

The following figures and features are Casio’s published specifications, not independent test results. Its July 28, 2022 announcement lists:

  • Case dimensions: 49.8 × 44.4 × 12.8 mm.
  • Weight: approximately 165 g.
  • Water resistance: 20 bar, commonly stated as 200 meters. Bar is a pressure rating; it should not be treated as an exact physical-depth conversion.
  • Power: Tough Solar.
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth Low Energy Smartphone Link through the CASIO WATCHES app.
  • Timekeeping: world time for 38 cities, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, five daily alarms, hand shift, full auto-calendar, and 12/24-hour format.
  • Lighting: double LED illumination.

Casio lists app features including automatic time adjustment, easy settings, world time, time-and-place logging, reminders, and a phone finder. The dimensions and weight help describe the watch’s proportions on paper, but they cannot tell you whether its size and mass suit your wrist.

What Casio says about operating time

Casio’s 2022 release estimates about seven months of operation after a full charge when the watch is used without solar charging, or about 18 months with power saving enabled. These are manufacturer estimates under the stated conditions, not a guarantee of the time a particular wearer will get between charges.

Which GM-B2100 finish is available?

Casio’s 2022 announcement named three finishes. The model codes identify the exterior treatment:

These are the finishes identified in that announcement, not a statement about current inventory. Casio’s release does not establish that every variant is currently sold in every country or at the same price. Check the local Casio catalog or retailer listings for availability where you live.

GM-B2100 vs. GMC-B2100: what is the difference?

The names are similar, but these are distinct 2100-series families. The GM-B2100 is analog-digital; the GMC-B2100, announced in 2024, is fully analog and has a chronograph-style layout with three functional inset dials.

  • G-SHOCK is a shock-resistant clock that builds a new concept of toughness on the watch. It is a full metal model equipped with a smartphone link in the digital/analog combination ''GA-2100'' series developed after inheriting the concept of the first model DW-5000C.
  • [Shock-resistant structure] G-SHOCK's core technology in pursuit of toughness is resistant to shocks that protect the module with a unique uneven shape, preventing direct impact on glass & buttons.

Casio describes the GMC-B2100 in its GMC-B2100 product information and 2024 announcement. The feature lists above reflect those sources; do not assume the GM-B2100’s exact specifications apply to the GMC-B2100.

How to choose between the variants

  • Choose by display first: the GM-B2100 keeps an analog-digital readout; the GMC-B2100 is the fully analog alternative with three inset dials.
  • Choose a GM-B2100 finish by appearance: silver is the straightforward stainless-steel look, while the black and rose-gold versions use ion-plated finishes. The announcement identifies those treatments but does not establish comparative wear or scratch resistance.
  • Use the dimensions as a starting point, not a fit verdict: the GM-B2100’s published 49.8 × 44.4 × 12.8 mm case and approximately 165 g weight are useful reference points, but wrist shape and personal preference matter. Try one on if fit is uncertain.
  • Verify the exact model code locally: regional catalogs and stock can differ, and the 2022 finish announcement is not a live availability list.
