The Casio G-Shock MTG-B1000D-1A pairs a substantial stainless-steel exterior with a carbon-fiber-reinforced resin center case, solar charging, Bluetooth connectivity and Multi Band 6 radio timekeeping. Its published specifications make it a feature-rich option for someone who wants a polished metal G-Shock, but its 55.8 mm width and 182 g weight are significant fit considerations. Casio labels the model “Old Model,” so whether it is worth buying now depends on the actual listing, condition and price—not a verified current retail price.
What the MTG-B1000D-1A is—and its current status
This is an MT-G, a G-Shock line that gives the watch a more finished metal-and-resin appearance while retaining shock-focused construction. The MTG-B1000D-1A combines a stainless-steel case and bezel with a carbon-fiber-reinforced resin center case and a layered composite band. Mirror-polished edges, hairline-finished surfaces and metallic red accents provide a dressier look than a resin-only G-Shock, without making it a small or discreet watch.
Casio’s international product page labels the MTG-B1000D-1A an “Old Model.” That confirms its status on Casio’s site, but does not establish whether it is discontinued in every market, whether any retailer still has stock, or what a fair current price is. Check the exact reference, seller, condition, warranty and included bracelet links before buying.
Size, weight and wrist fit
The manufacturer lists a case measuring 55.8 × 51.7 × 14.4 mm and a weight of 182 g. Those figures point to a broad, thick, heavy watch with a noticeable wrist presence. The layered composite band may articulate differently from a conventional solid metal bracelet, but it does not change the watch’s listed mass or large case footprint.

Casio describes the band as soft and mid-size and says its connection design is intended to improve vibration resistance and wearability. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not the result of an independent comfort test. If you prefer compact watches, have a small wrist, or dislike a watch that feels heavy, try this one on if possible. Comparing its dimensions with a watch you already wear can also help you judge its footprint.
How the metal-and-resin construction works
Casio describes a core guard structure that protects the module, using the exterior structure to absorb shocks. The center case is carbon-fiber-reinforced resin, while the case and bezel include stainless steel. Casio says this material arrangement is intended to improve rigidity while keeping weight lower than conventional resin; that is a design claim, not a comparative test result for this review.
The band is listed as a solid, layered composite band with a one-touch three-fold clasp. Casio says the band connection was designed to improve vibration resistance and wearability. The construction is specified as shock resistant, vibration resistant and TRIPLE G RESIST—protection against shock, centrifugal force and vibration.

The crystal is spherical sapphire with an anti-reflective coating. It is a premium material choice for a watch in this category, though the available specifications do not establish how the crystal or finished metal surfaces will look after use. As with any watch, real-world marks depend on wear and handling.
Bluetooth, radio timekeeping and world time
The MTG-B1000D-1A offers two automatic time-adjustment routes: Bluetooth connection to the CASIO WATCHES app and Multi Band 6 radio-controlled timekeeping. Bluetooth provides a phone-based connection; radio reception depends on location and signal conditions, so reception should not be assumed everywhere. Casio’s Singapore specification page lists the radio calibration stations supported by the model.
Casio lists app functions including automatic time adjustment, watch settings, watch-status display, phone finder and world time for approximately 300 cities. The watch’s own world-time specification is 39 time zones (27 cities plus UTC), with daylight-saving-time functions; app connectivity can update city data.

Without signal calibration or mobile link, Casio lists accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. That is the manufacturer’s stated figure, not a measurement from independent testing.
Solar power, water resistance and everyday functions
Tough Solar charges the watch from light. Casio Singapore states approximately five months of operation from a full charge under normal use with no further light exposure, or 18 months in darkness with power saving enabled. Both are conditional manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed runtimes for every wearer or environment.
The watch is rated to 200 meters of water resistance, also expressed by Casio as 20 bar. That is a manufacturer specification; it should not be read as a promise of suitability for every water activity or as a replacement for appropriate inspection and maintenance.

Is the MTG-B1000D-1A worth buying?
It may be worth considering if you want a metal-forward G-Shock with solar charging, app connectivity and radio time calibration, and you are comfortable wearing a 182 g watch with a 55.8 mm case width. Its combination of steel surfaces, composite construction, sapphire crystal and multiple timekeeping features is its central appeal.

The main trade-off is practical rather than hidden: this is a large, heavy watch, and its “Old Model” designation means you should assess the specific listing rather than assume new stock or a current standard price. The 2019 aBlogtoWatch video description gives a historical price of $900; that dated figure is not a current market valuation. The video identifies Ariel Adams as reviewer, but its description alone does not provide enough detail to attribute a review verdict to him.
For any available example, compare the exact reference and condition, check bracelet fit and included links, review the seller’s warranty and reputation, and judge the asking price against current listings you can verify. Casio’s official MTG-B1000D-1A page is the place to confirm the model identity and manufacturer specifications.
