Casio announced the MRG-D5000 Blue Sapphire on October 1, 2026: an MR-G model in the G-SHOCK line, limited to 20 pieces worldwide, with a screwless, multi-component case and bezel that use blue sapphire crystal. It is a product release. Casio’s official materials do not show that the launch moved the company’s share price or will materially affect its earnings, so this article treats the stock angle as context rather than cause.
What Casio announced
The MRG-D5000 is the flagship of a three-model sapphire group that Casio revealed in its October 1, 2026 corporate announcement. It is the only model in that group explicitly limited to 20 pieces worldwide. Casio’s announcement puts the design point this way:
“The new MRG-D5000 features a screwless, multi-component structure and a bezel rendered entirely in blue sapphire crystal.” (Casio Computer Co., Ltd., corporate announcement, October 1, 2026)
Edition size
Casio states that the watch “will be available in a limited edition of only 20 pieces worldwide.” The announcement does not split that allocation by region, so there is no official figure for how many pieces go to Japan, North America, Europe or China.

Release window
Casio lists a December 2026 release window. The materials reviewed do not give an exact on-sale date, and availability in each market will depend on Casio’s final official terms for that market.
How the sapphire construction works
Casio calls the structure its Multi-Guard Structure. It uses several separate case and bezel components that are assembled without screws. According to Casio, the screwless design avoids the screw points where sapphire could crack. Casio also says it analyzed the forces transmitted to the sapphire crystal on impact and designed the structure to protect that material. The company describes the MRG-D5000 as the first G-SHOCK with a shock-resistant structure built with blue sapphire components.
Rank #2
- Enhance your style with some seriously sophisticated timekeeping from the 5000 line
- Directly descended from the first-ever G-SHOCK , the GMW-BZ5000 carries on the evolution of function and material in a transformative, unprecedented design
- They kept the iconic form of the original G-SHOCK, while developing a new structure that extends the case all the way to the lugs to even further mitigate shock transmission
What the engineering claim does and does not establish
- It establishes Casio’s stated design rationale: separate components, no screws in the sapphire-bearing structure, and an impact analysis aimed at protecting the crystal.
- It does not establish independent impact or destructive-test results. None is cited in the manufacturer material published with the launch.
- It does not establish long-term durability. A limited run of 20 watches has no field history yet, and no resale or wear data exists for this model.

The three sapphire models compared
Casio announced two companion models alongside the MRG-D5000. They use sapphire differently and are not the same 20-piece flagship. The table below sets out what the October 1, 2026 announcement confirms for each.

Price and buying
The Japan price
Casio’s Japan product page lists a suggested retail price of ¥11,000,000 including tax. That figure is for Japan only. The materials reviewed do not give prices for other markets, so no conversion or estimate should be used.

Before you buy
- Search by the full model name, “Casio G-SHOCK MRG-D5000 Blue Sapphire.” A listing with that name does not mean the watch is in stock or that the seller is authorized.
- Check the seller, the listing identity, the condition and the price on the day you buy.
- In the United States, Casio’s official page describes registration for an opportunity to purchase. It states that availability, eligibility, the selection process and the purchase window depend on final official terms, so registration is not a guaranteed purchase.
- Do not assume a resale price. No resale value for this model is established.
Does the launch move Casio’s stock?
The materials do not establish that it does. The phrase “Casio stock gets a 20 piece sapphire G-SHOCK launch” describes the sequence of events, not a demonstrated effect on the share price.
What the share-price figure shows
A secondary news article published October 8, 2026 reports that Casio shares traded at ¥2,217 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange at 11:30 a.m. JST that day, down 2.46% from the prior close. The same article reports market capitalization and a 52-week range. This is a single time-stamped observation from a secondary source. It is not a current quote, and no official source links it to the MRG-D5000 announcement.

Scale check
Casio Computer Co., Ltd. is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under securities code 6952. Its investor profile reports net sales of ¥276,267 million and 8,259 employees as of March 31, 2026.
As an illustration only, if all 20 pieces sold at the Japanese list price, the total would be ¥220 million, about 0.08% of the reported net sales figure. This is an arithmetic ceiling, not a forecast. Casio has not disclosed model-level sales, pricing outside Japan or allocation by market, so the true value of the edition is not known.
The next company-wide checkpoint
Casio’s investor relations calendar lists November 12, 2026 as the planned announcement of second-quarter results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027. Casio notes that the schedule can change. Those results cover the whole company and do not promise any breakdown of sales for individual models.
