Notebookcheck describes that price as 48% below a $725 list price, and the arithmetic holds against that reference. Against what Citizen itself was charging at the time, $543.75, the saving is closer to 31%. The deal was also not the lowest Amazon price the watch has shown.
What the 48% figure actually measures
The 48% claim compares the Amazon Prime price with a $725 list price, the reference price shown for the watch. It does not compare the Amazon price with the price Citizen was charging on the same day. Citizen’s U.S. collection listing, retrieved on the same reporting date, showed $543.75 against that same $725 original price, so a buyer going directly to Citizen was already paying about 25% below the reference. The Amazon offer goes further, but by a smaller margin than the headline suggests.

That earlier figure is the outlet’s own reported number; we have not checked it against independent price-tracking records, so treat it as a reference point rather than a verified price history. A reader comparing today’s offer with the 2020 figure should expect a higher price now than the older low.

Which model the deal covers
The offer concerns the AT8020-03L, which Citizen lists with a blue polyurethane-coated leather strap. The bracelet version is a different model, the AT8020-54L. Do not assume that a strap or bracelet from one version will fit the other, and do not treat the two as interchangeable when comparing prices. Fit for any aftermarket strap has not been verified, so check the lug width and strap specifications before buying a replacement.

What “atomic” and “Eco-Drive” mean in practice
Radio-controlled watches receive time signals broadcast from transmitters that are themselves synchronized to atomic clocks, then adjust their hands and calendar automatically. Reception depends on your location and the signal range of the transmitter nearest you, so the watch may not synchronize everywhere equally well. Eco-Drive movements run on light, which means regular battery replacement is not part of normal ownership. The power reserve indicator shows how much charge remains, which helps when the watch is kept in a dark drawer for long periods.
