Its shared blue-and-gold palette and Casiotron-inspired details appear across distinct Casio brands, not just one watch design. The clearest G-SHOCK example is the full-metal GMW-B5000SS-2.
What is the Sky and Sea collection?
Casio announced the collection on May 21, 2024, as part of its 50th watch anniversary. The company’s launch announcement described an initial lineup of five models spanning Casiotron, G-SHOCK, EDIFICE, PRO TREK, and BABY-G. Casio later published a retrospective discussing six of its leading brands and included OCEANUS; its US anniversary page also displays the OCW-S7000SS-2A. These are different official snapshots, so the five-model launch lineup should not be mistaken for a definitive worldwide total across later anniversary material.
Casio describes blue as representing the changing forms of sky and sea, while gold evokes the light illuminating them. The company’s announcement put the concept this way: “The design theme features accent colors of blue and gold to evoke dazzling light illuminating the sky and sea.” Casio’s May 21, 2024 announcement also connects the design to its commitment to continued innovation.
How the design refers to Casiotron
The anniversary details draw on the Casiotron QW02, released in 1974. Casio describes that watch as the world’s first digital watch with an automatic calendar function; that historical distinction is Casio’s characterization. In the Sky and Sea models, the fluted pattern and triangular caseback motif serve as references to the original.

The connection is more than a shared anniversary color scheme: it ties watches from different contemporary Casio lines to the company’s early digital-watch history. Casio also said all five models in its initial announcement used Tough Solar charging and came in special packaging made with recycled materials.

The GMW-B5000SS-2 is the most direct choice if the aim is specifically to see the anniversary theme on a G-SHOCK. The EDIFICE example carries the SOSPENSIONE’s mechanical-looking suspension-arm styling, while the OCEANUS model uses a sapphire-crystal bezel treatment. They share the anniversary palette and heritage cues, but are not the same watch with different logos.
